For Those Who Still Support Bernie

Raise up your candle in solidarity. It's not over til it's over, despite what anyone else says.

I can think of no other candidate except maybe Al Gore in recent history who has deserved the support of this party yet was scorned by so many... (And if anyone wants, they can see what kind of fan of Al Gore I was).

Bernie, if you are listening, I appreciate everything you've done. I'm with you until the end. I'm proud of the campaign you've run. And despite everything else, I, and everyone else, knows where you stand and what you've done for this country. I'm proud to be with you.

It always saddens me when other Democrats STILL aren't aware of the positive effect he has had on preserving this nation's REAL history. election day. Trump is...well, we've got to keep him out of the White House.

Thing is, I have not yet given up on Bernie, because he's the only candidate in my voting lifetime that has (I've felt) cared about me, my family and our kitchen table issues. I like his platform a lot, particularly the single payer plank (did you know that single payer in the USA would be a violation of the GATS agreement prohibiting us from creating a 'service monopoly' in healthcare? Seriously - this is 'free trade' at its best - all about profit, not so much about people).

But, even if Bernie can't quite make the ticket, he has still seriously changed the conversation in this country. Millions of Americans have wised up about the big capitalists because of Bernie, and that is a wonderful thing. The concept of a 'political revolution' as Bernie envisions it is also a wonderful thing, because it is about us as a people assuming the mantle of responsible political citizens and demanding that OUR government use OUR tax money for things that help US instead of padding the pockets of Wall St. and the MIC.

Bernie is a great man. He really is.

Yes I know, unless outside circumstances intervene he is not going to win. However, every day of his presence in this race has highlighted the insular corruption of money and influence trading in the party and that has value.

It's also shown the insular corruption of the mainstream media. They circled the wagons and attacked Bernie relentlessly when he became a threat. It showed just how far the establishment would go to protect itself and that also has tremendous value.

He needs to fight for every single delegate available right into the convention. No lack of Bern here.

I'd rather vote for someone who'll fight for people over corporations, for someone who raises money $10 & $20 at a time from voters, not a quick million here and there from Wall Street and rich bundlers of max personal contributions (which are usually fraudulent anyway).

If HRC wants my vote, she can disavow her corporate sponsors and return the piles of dirty money she's taken in from forces bent on destroying working-class and poor Americans. She can tell Wall Street to go to hell, rather than playing footsie with them and promising to keep the plutocracy in place.

I'm not holding my breath. She is what she is. A corporate-friendly centrist with moderate social views. No thanks...

That's what I figure as well. Independents didn't get to vote in a lot of the primaries, as they will in the GE. They will make their presence known at that time. Just have working pens ready for write-in. While NY's primaries are terrible for the Indys, NY does have a paper ballot that can be recounted. No old lever machines anymore, they could be jimmied. The computor is in the reader's which are reliable. Although, this last election, I had to tell several voters to turn their ballot upside-down and reinsert. That is unusual. Several of us commented on it. What we found was that inserting upside-down, it went right through. I watched to see if there was a difference between Democratic ballots and Republican ballots. It seemed to be random. BUT, you never know. I would just as soon go back to the old way of reading them.

she didn't have to take that blood money - nor does she have to keep it. The struggle for economic fairness is too important to ignore or hold my nose and vote for a corporatist.

As for the remainder of your list, I'm confident we can pressure the Senate (which will go Democrat, regardless this fall) to block anything crazy. Trump may be a racist asshole, but he's also a New Yorker and probably doesn't give to shits about the religious nuts in the GOP. And economically, I don't see him being any worse than HRC. 2 sides of the same coin.

And remember that we really don't yet know the outcome of Arizona, New York, or Illinois..possibly other states. I'm not saying that Hillary's campaign did it, but there has been a lot of voter suppression, much of it aimed college students who tend to vote for Berrnie, as well as voting machine flipping, no ballots for voters, outright refusal to register some voters (in IL, students), and voter registration suppression all over the place, suspicious vote calculations in Massachusetts and upstate New York. I'm not arguing for a conspiracy, but I'm not getting these reports from conspiracy sites either; I have been reading local, small town, news sources after each election, and all of the primaries have had problems that disenfranchised voters that were usually reported as local anamolies. But when you start adding this up--and these are the anamolies for which their are records--a pattern starts to emerge. Who knows, maybe this is how it always is, but it does make me suspicious, especially given the discrepancies between exit polls and vote counts.

82. Yes Feeling the Bern!!!
Wed Apr 27, 2016, 08:08 PM
Apr 2016

As Bernie has said to me today in an email:

"Coming out of last night's results, in which we won Rhode Island but came up short in four others, I want to pose to you three things that I know to be true:

Young people – the future of our country – continue to vote for our campaign in overwhelming numbers. It's remarkable, and honestly quite humbling.

When we compete in open primaries that encourage the participation of independents, new voters, and young people, we do very well.

What remains in front of us is a very narrow path to the nomination. In the weeks to come we will be competing in a series of states that are very favorable to us – including California. Just like after March 15 – when we won 8 of the next 9 contests – we are building tremendous momentum going into the convention.
That is the reality of where we are right now, and why we are going to fight for every delegate and every vote. It is why I am going to continue to speak to voters in every state about the very important issues facing our country. Our country cannot afford to stop fighting for a $15 minimum wage, to overturn Citizens United, or to get universal health care for every man, woman, and child in America.

I'm asking you to help me continue to lead these fights. We have an FEC deadline on Saturday and another primary on Tuesday. Every vote we earn and every delegate we win is a testament to our ideas, to our movement, to our political revolution, and our willingness to take this campaign for the Democratic nomination all the way to the convention.

Will you contribute to help us continue to speak to voters about the incredibly important issues facing our country? Your support right now before two big deadlines will send an unmistakable message that our voices will still be heard.

There is no doubt in my mind that what you and I have done together up to this point is nothing short of historic. And I know that if we are going to work together, we will continue making history.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders"

I am very sad right now. I cannot understand how all of the Democrats #1 I cannot see the chance that we have to actually have a leader that will fight for the common man and our rights. #2. I cannot understand how the Democrats can look at ALL of the issues about Hillary Clinton and still vote for her.

I don't know when we will have another candidate like Bernie Sanders again. He has been fighting for us his whole adult life. He has accomplished so much for us during his time in The House and Senate. They don't call him "The Amendment King" for nothing. The career in politics of his Democratic opponents accomplishments can be counted on one hand. It is just insane. I will follow Bernie Sanders to wherever he wants us to go. I hope that this is just the beginning of the "Revolution" that is so badly needed in this country. His work must keep on being fought for by all of us. Hopefully if Bernie Sanders isn't in the White House in 2017, he will still keep a national leadership role and still lead us in the "Revolution" so that we can work to make elections fair. We need to be able to get more good people in Washington.

I am still holding onto hope that Bernie Sanders will win. Things can happen like Hillary Clinton getting indicted too. So, I am glad for Bernie Sanders staying in until the last vote is counted. Thank you Bernie Sanders!

Thu Apr 28, 2016, 12:00 AM
Apr 2016

... is that countless people on here have outright accused me of being one of those million dollar Brock trolls and it compelled me to finally actually put a definitive profile there to shut people up. And now that I have one, you're going to forego the "you're a paid troll" act and try to define for me what my spiritual ethics are based on my profile? That takes real moxie, man.

First off, I rarely say "blessed be." That's my husband's bag.

Secondly, I don't believe in a threefold law. I believe in justice.

Finally, that freaking ergot theory has been debunked ten thousand ways from Sunday. If you want to get a real idea of what went on, read Salem Possessed by Paul Boyers and Steven Nissenbaum. Or read the less academic distillation of many of their ideas in A Delusion of Satan by Francis Hill. Frankly I don't care which candidate you support but for heaven's sake, don't perpetuate that damned ergot theory any longer.r

154. Well, I think it's how you look at it ...
Thu Apr 28, 2016, 12:16 AM
Apr 2016

some of this may be a better conversation for PM since I'm not sure most people here care about our spiritual philosophies anymore than my Facebook fans care for me ranting about politics.

I don't think it was ergot but I also don't think it was quite mass hysteria in every sense either. This was manipulated and people have been looking for ergot, hysteria, and myriad other reasons that won't force them to the bitter truth that this was direct product of the darker side of human nature: greed, jealousy, envy, and more.

In Deacon Ingersoll's ordinary (sort of like a social place), Abigail Williams said point blank, "we do it for sport." That's not hysteria or ergot talking. It's a child who lived in a culture where children had no voice at all, who weren't even allowed to play, who probably saw the exotic mutterings of Tituba to be something completely otherworldly. Yeah, I'm sure they got freaked out on it and it started out as your garden variety hysterical episode, and that's why the first people accused were outcasts of society, but it very, very quickly became something else in the hands of the families, Putnam and Paris, from whom most of the so-called afflicted girls actually came.

As the supporter of a candidate who has maintained a very strong focus on economy and economic justice, I think you might actually be interested to know how much of all of this boiled down to money.

As for threefold, that is oft-misunderstood, especially as it pertains to the British traditions from which most of modern Neo-Paganism and Neo-Wicca come from. My husband is a well-regarded priest in those traditions. It's not as simple as the books these days make it out to be. But me, I'm an old fashioned hocus pocus style Witch, perhaps more akin to a root worker in a way. To me, karma is something we wait for. Justice is something we participate in.
