Sanders will likely stay in to the last primary but it is over.
Congratulations Hillary and Bernie for running great campaigns.

(711 posts)You should always vote. No, question. Stay passionate!
But a revolution doesn't start at the top of the ticket, it starts at the bottom. Go like trailblazers for your mayor, or your school board, or your state senator, or your congressman. Please, I'm begging you! Stay Passionate! We need to take the house back. Duh!
Go Revolution!!!!!!!!
Yep, I'm still 100% for Hillary... go figure.

I'm for Hillary, but why do we have to do this?
Bernie can make up his own mind as to what he's doing and when he decides to end it. Can't we have respect for one another?

(9,313 posts)Sanders Statement on Primary Elections
APRIL 26TH, 2016
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday issued the following statement:
I congratulate Secretary Clinton on her victories tonight, and I look forward to issue-oriented campaigns in the 14 contests to come.
I am proud that we were able to win a resounding victory tonight in Rhode Island, the one state with an open primary where independents had a say in the outcome. Democrats should recognize that the ticket with the best chance of winning this November must attract support from independents as well as Democrats. I am proud of my campaigns record in that regard.
The people in every state in this country should have the right to determine who they want as president and what the agenda of the Democratic Party should be. Thats why we are in this race until the last vote is cast. That is why this campaign is going to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia with as many delegates as possible to fight for a progressive party platform that calls for a $15 an hour minimum wage, an end to our disastrous trade policies, a Medicare-for-all health care system, breaking up Wall Street financial institutions, ending fracking in our country, making public colleges and universities tuition free and passing a carbon tax so we can effectively address the planetary crisis of climate change.

(3,486 posts)So, he can talk about his platform from here until the convention. He just better not attack our nominee one little bit. If he does he'll prove himself to be a giant douche.

(6,409 posts)Hillary Clinton will be our party's nominee, as we suspected all along. But millions of voters still want to vote for Bernie Sanders, and they will, not because they don't comprehend the numbers, but because they want to vote for Bernie Sanders. They want to vote for a progressive candidate who is not so closely connected to large financial interests, a candidate who is not so hawkish on foreign policy, and so on. They don't care if "everyone" says they must jump on the Clinton bandwagon. This is not the time for that. That comes later, in the general election. Everything in due time.

(45,319 posts)The West Coast, which is where the future is created and thrives long before the East catches up with us, has been and will be voting for Bernie Sanders.
If I had been asked to vote in this Primary for any candidate with an anti gay past and a current habit of praising Ronald Reagan as an AIDS activist while erasing LGBT courage in the face of Reagan's genocidal apathy I'd have left the Party into which I was born. No more of that is acceptable to me. Tired of it. So she'd better hope Bernie stays in to the end, if he's not in till the end I won't even vote for a candidate for President, can't do that for her after the Reagan crap.

(46,179 posts)The primaries are not over; I still get to cast my vote. I can't tell you, living in a state with a late primary, how disrespected, disenfranchised, and marginalized it is to have my vote discounted before all states have weighed in...EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME. Since the only real reason to be a Democrat is to participate in the primary process, and my state isn't given respect in that process, I don't see a real reason to keep that "D" on my voter registration. I vote for issues; I can do that with or without a party.
The fight to elect non-neo-liberals is not over. The work continues.
It's possible that the fight to take the Democratic Party back from neo-liberals may be over; that remains to be seen.
