2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWARNING: the general election isn't a closed primary. Independents and (gasp) even Repubs can vote!
Sure they're whooping it up now with the results of their little closed primaries where outsiders aren't allowed, but overly enthusiastic Hillary supporters need to think twice about what they're doing.

(42,714 posts)Note that the one poll that is relatively close is done by a republican polling outfit.
Or these:http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2016-general-election-trump-vs-clinton
Or check the state by state polls on realclearpolitics. Clinton is defeating Trump by double digits in almost every state with a poll.

(2,546 posts)For many reaons... But that is the TRUTH! She should have made a choice... Go for the money or go for public service... She merely "used" the later in order to further her ends in the former... Pitiful!
Here she is...

(7,318 posts)in closed primaries doesn't translate into a win in the GE. Independents make up the largest part of registered voters. If the GE were held now, with no rules blocking his access to be on the ballot, Sanders would win it hands down and everyone knows that. If Sanders is not the Dem nominee, it will be interesting to see in the Nov GE what all those independents do who were frustrated by the primary process.

(31,849 posts)Democrats, left-leaning Independents, and moderate republicans ... all hate trump.

(11,495 posts)All those independents are so stupid they are "all" going to vote for Trump? I really doubt it. Hell even a lot of republicans are not going to vote for Trump. I don't then there is anything to worry about, contrary all the bull we here on DU about her losing to trump.

(34,845 posts)Take all that together and you come away with pretty clear evidence that over the course of the Democratic primary young voters have become more attached to progressive politics and the Democratic party. One read of this is that the primary process itself - as divisive as it has sometimes seemed - has deepened young voters' identification with the Democratic party.

(31,849 posts)Which probably explains all the Democratic Party = bad talk from some quarters.

(34,845 posts)But that's kind of what they did, I think. Just goes to show what not being organized or willing to work as part of a team will do.

(10,493 posts)With her real votes no compromise, no unity, comment. She gave her marching orders to her people in that statement. And told 42% of dems and indies who support Bernie but couldn't vote that she doesn't need us.

(7,011 posts)Are you a Democrat or a Republican? If you don't want to say until the last minute, you are a hedger. If you are unafiliated, then you are unaffiliated. Party primaries are for party members to choose their candidate. Unafiliated can run a slate of unafiliated candidates and vote in that primary. Why don't they?
hellofromreddit
(1,182 posts)But it still increases the number of voters who get locked out of the process due to honest errors. How is that beneficial?
