will be the nominee. If he win the PDs, is would not be contested by Hillary, right? Right?

But he doesn't have that lead, and it's less and less likely he will.

If he loses all 5 tonight, there will be a good chance that he drops out in a few days.

"The 1980 convention was notable as it was the last time in the 20th century, for either major party, that a candidate tried to get delegates released from their voting commitments. This was done by Massachusetts Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Carter's chief rival for the nomination in the Democratic primaries, who sought the votes of delegates held by Carter."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Democratic_National_Convention

"Kennedy’s challenge of Carter for the ’80 nod was unusually bitter and protracted. Even though Carter won twice as many delegates in the primary and caucus season, Kennedy fought all the way to the August convention, attempting to convince delegates to support a rule change that would have allowed them to vote their conscience on the first ballot — instead of being forced to cast a ballot for the candidate they’d been pledged to during the primary season. Only when this effort failed did Kennedy back down and end his campaign (with what was probably the best speech of his career)."

Fought to the bitter end, weakening Carter, ultimately ushering in Reagan. But, great speech!! @#$% that!

and had been on the national Democratic ticket years earlier as candidate for vice president. He was a major figure in the Democratic Party, having worked in the trenches, so to speak, for decades.

He was also a member of one of the country's most prominent political families--one could even call it a dynasty--since his cousin Theodore Roosevelt had also been a popular president.

Sorry, but I don't think your analogy works.

21. People don't understand what "contested" means....

it doesn't mean someone just doesn't want to give up and "contests" the convention.

It means no candidate has enough delegate votes to secure the nomination. And yes, super delegates count.

That's not going to happen this year. Clinton is only short by 285 delegates, and there are 1,000 left to win. Unless Bernie can win 72% of the remaining delegates, she's the nominee.

The whole "super delegates don't count!" thing was just a silly rationale developed by people who didn't want to accept the reality of the situation and assumed they would all switch if Bernie won more pledged delegates. Then when it became clear he wouldn't win more pledged delegates, it was taken as a path forward, that somehow they aren't "real" votes and don't count.

Newsflash. They ARE real votes. They DO count.

Hillary is going to be voted the nominee on the first vote. That's just what IS going to happen. There will be no contested convention, and 2016 has nothing to do with 1932, when no candidate had the winning number including all delegate votes.
