I remember when Hillary stabbed John Kerry in the back.

In 2006, Kerry was considering another run for the White House. Shortly before the midterm election, he made this comment to a group of college students:

"Education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Anyone with a brain could understand that Kerry was referring to the then-Bush administration's totally incompetent handling of the invasion of Iraq. However, his remarks, of course, were manipulated by his political opponents into him insulting US forces. Republicans and even a few so-called Democrats condemned Kerry, a veteran who won three purple hearts in Vietnam, for apparently insulting the intelligence of American soldiers. Democrats like Hillary Clinton, one of his potential rivals for the nomination in 2008:

"What Senator Kerry said was inappropriate and I believe we can't let it divert us from looking at the issues that are at stake in our country."

This was politics at its worse. Hillary certainly knew that Kerry was not insulting the troops. However, rather than standing up for her fellow Democrat colleague in the senate, she took the coward's way out and only added fire to this non-controversy. Or maybe she sensed a way to get a potential presidential rival out of her way.

Well, if the latter is the case, it worked. Kerry ended up apologizing for something he never said. Two months later, after opinion polls had shown his personal approval ratings had cratered to a record low, Kerry announced that he would not run for president in 2008.

Hillary Clinton has zero loyalty to anyone but herself and her political ambitions. She might end up getting my vote for the only reason that the other options are even more awful, but she will never get my respect and I will never be proud to call her "president".

1. I base my lack of support for Clinton on her actual acts and words.

It's amazing to be accused that I have fallen for propaganda, or am "not really a Democrat," or all the other such assumptions. I just remember all the times I have cringed at her actions or words.

my long list against Clintons here for years, I haven't been rehashing it for the sake of my GOTV efforts. (I live in NC)

But, many of you DO know why I ended up supporting Sanders. You lived through the years of my aggressive criticisms of Clinton. Heh….sometimes I have to laugh at the absurdity of some here assuming I am an HRC supporter because I no longer engage in attacking her. Though she will have my vote in November.

I do appreciate your post, BlueS, and yours, Hissys. Kinda nice to see that some still have Kerry's back.

from that incident. Lucky for us it likely didn't do any damage.

Kerry has made a great SoS, but he was not my favorite politician.

5. He accidentally dropped a pronoun (he) from a set joke he'd said many times before.

9. He had a penchant for putting his foot in his mouth, this was one of many examples.

I don't really care to rehash 10-12 year old arguments, my only point to the OP was that I agreed with Hillary at the time and my opinion remains unchanged.

Well, enjoy insulting Bernie and his supporters, yukking it up, and slapping each other on the asses for the next five hours or so. I'm out of here. I might end up saying something that will get me banned if I stick around.
