https://www.yahoo.com/news/jurors-unmoved-former-va-governors-appeal-arguments-140118270.html?nhp=1From the article:
"They say they aren't buying McDonnell's core argument: that he only extended routine political courtesies to the former vitamin executive who gave him and his family more than $165,000 in gifts and loans, and that his conviction if allowed to stand would make virtually every public officeholder a potential target of overzealous federal prosecutors."
This is the essence of HRC's argument.
That it doesn't matter how much money you take in or from who, it doesn't influence or predisposition a politician. It is hard, in certain situations, to make that argument but no harder than Saudi Arabia making millions of dollars in donations to the Clinton Foundation and HRC, as SoS, approving weapons sales within weeks of those donations. Or why, given Saudi Arabia's horrible record regarding women and LGBTQ people, is it the number one foreign nation contributor to the Clinton Foundation? Why is the Foundation taking money from a nation that violates its core principles? It should be protesting them, not taking money from them.
What Bob McDonnell was doing, in principle, was not that different than what far to many politicians are doing every day.
Now, either you are against it or for it. Don't insult my intelligence or anyone else and say you are against things like Citizens United and unlimited corporate or dark money in politics and then literally do all the things you say you are against and tell me it only corrupts or influences other people, not me, I'm ok, I'm a good person. I'll call you a liar.

(17,469 posts)1. And you can be damned sure that if HRC is elected
the GOP will be tripping over themselves to prosecute her for this type of corruption.
