4. We've redefined "royal."

It used to mean "in the White House," then it spread to mean "running for office," now it's either high elected position, running for office, or in high appointed position. And it's not just you, per se, or your name, but part of a set of royalty.

Just running, apparently, even if you lose badly, makes you qualify.

By that measure, of course, it means that at no point during my life I have been free from royalty--in every election there's been a Bush, a Clinton, or a Kennedy running or in some elected federal position or appointed to high office.In fact, you'd have to be 69 to escape that royalist scourge.


Then again, it's apparently okay if you're the scion of a wealthy (D) family. And if you include just the Kennedys and Obama and omit the Bushes and Clintons, that age doesn't move one bit.
