Bernie Sanders Partially Blames His Losses On "Poor People" Not Voting

When asked why he thinks he's losing in those states, Sanders responded, "Well, because poor people don't vote. I mean, that's just a fact."

In an interview airing on NBC's "Meet the Press" this Sunday, Sanders described the voter turnout among low-income Americans as "a sad reality of American society, and that's what we have to transform."

He credited his campaign with working to bring more young people into the voting process. He explained that they have "had some success with lower income people. But in America today, in the last election in 2014, 80% of poor people did not vote."
The Sanders campaign pointed NBC News to this Salon.com article that shows roughly 25% of those making under $10,000/year voted in the 2014 midterm election based on Census data.

Politifact has previously examined Sen. Sanders' claim that "75% of low-income workers chose not to vote" and characterized his comments as "a bit off

He's argueing that the people that "should" want to vote for him, don't for him because statistics. Meanwhile most of the people that do decide to vote are corporatist, establishment or proles that don't know any better.

He is going to take his ball and go home when he loses.

Hillary won working class voters in NYC walking away. She wins minority voters -- a majority of them working class -- everywhere.

ETA oh maybe you mean white working class voters?

Bernie talks a good game but he does not lead Clinton in working-class support by the numbers unless you don't know how to do math.

Oh wait ...

Working class in America damn well does mean poor.

Perhaps you've never been working class. How dare you presume my upbringing? You don't know. But you're very wrong.

"Sanders has often pinned his success rate to voter turnout. But he has lost among Democratic voters with household incomes below $50,000, 55 percent to 44 percent, across primaries where network exit polls have been conducted, according to the Washington Post." -- The Hill

Many Americans are working poor. They support Clinton by the numbers.

Working class means anyone who works for a waged job. It includes the working poor.

You're just spinning stuff out your you know what.

Clinton leads among all voters with family incomes under $50k. That includes people in poverty. Her huge minority support comes from largely working poor communities.

I suppose Sanders would own the homeless vote. But he doesn't own trailer parks or housing projects.

The working poor do vote at lower levels, hint, regardless of who is running. This is a well known fact. And in an oligarchy I don't blame people who get almost no benefits who chose, or have no time, to not vote.

Huge hint, this has nada to do with this year but long standing statistics. At this point I agree with them by the way. But I will waste my time and will "pretend to vote."

I don't know if his percentages are right, I don't think it explains why he is losing, but it is a fact, and it is unfortunate.

and this OP exemplifies that. Any honest Democrat with Democratic values would agree with Bernie's full statement, not use it as propaganda. No matter, the "Hill" fans have written us off. They can win without us because their message is republican lite.
