Related: About this forumSince I have seen the Sanders isn't a Democrat meme pop up a lot the last few days here...
Someone please tell me where in his record does it indicate he has been against the Democratic party:

(3,040 posts)It isn't right to bring up things a candidate said in the past when it contradicts them now...
But, on his merits alone, he is 100% in line with the Democratic party.

(43,867 posts)So when he made those disparaging comments about the Democratic party, he was just joking? Why would he vote with us if he thinks so little of us? There's a word for that.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)The link I provided explains in detail how Sanders has voted in both the House and Senate as well as list the bills he has sponsored. But, I guess you didn't go to the link I posted before you made your comment.
But, thanks!
Let me help you out.. But but gun manufacturer liability, auto bailout and the crime bill.

(43,867 posts)Bernie really had no choice but to vote the way he did. What, was he going to vote with Republicans? LOL.
Bernie is no Democrat. He wants to burn the party down.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)He wouldn't vote along with Republicans because of his deeply help political beliefs so he voted with the Democrats. So, thus, that is equivalent to tearing the party apart? It seems to me, that if one thinks that a person who firmly caucuses with the Democrats will tear the party apart because of his left liberal beliefs, you might be in the wrong party.

(1,640 posts)for the rest of us who actually look at ideas and actions, it doesn't mean a thing. unfortunately the team players are many, and the independent thinkers are few.

(14,255 posts)oh! I got it! For some people, the letter D means vastly more than principles. From what I can gather.
Oddly enough, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (HEAD of the DNC, FFS) can do a really really shitty job, preside over an immense loss of Democrats holding office, goes directly against Obama, openly supports GOP cronies here in Florida against fellow Democrats, has left races unchallenged rather than support a liberal or Progressive, shills for payday lenders and against medical marijuana (oh, and that is a stance she would change if people would stop saying mean things about her, so evidently her principles are a bit bendy) - and I am supposed to kiss her ass by sending her money and supporting whatever she deems I should support. (NO, I will not, ever.)
And - ladies and gentlemen - that is what passes for a "Democrat" these days. Which makes the whole meme of Bernie not being a Democrat really really moot. And stupid. He likely votes with the Democrats more than Miss Third Way Debbie does.

(761 posts)the "Democratic" wing of the Democratic Party, certainly a criticism of establishment Democrats. There seems little difference between Wellstone and Bernie on this.

Bernie Sanders campaign manager insisted on Wednesday that the socialist presidential candidate is a Democrat for life, but Sanders Senate campaign recently filed documentation declaring him an independent, public records show.
He is a Democrat. Hes said hes a Democrat, and hes going to be supporting the Democratic nominee, whoever that is, said Jeff Weaver, manager of Sanders presidential campaign.
Asked whether he is a Democrat for life, Weaver insisted, yes.
Sanders said in November that he would run in all future elections as a member of the Democratic Party.
However, when Sanders Senate campaign committee renewed its registration with the Federal Election Commission in October, it listed its party affiliation as independent.

(2,262 posts)Hillary is a Democrat who believes in more Republican-like values. Just to eliminate the need for you to challenge me, up until after she announced her candidacy formally (she's been running since 2008), she supported the Keystone Pipeline, the gold standard TPP, still wants a Syrian no fly zone, utilized the advantages of the Citizen's United fund raising method, and many others.
So it's less about labels and more about actions. And Bernie was the original leader of and founder of the Progressive Caucus.
You have a habit of always wanting the last word. You can have it as I am done with you and your propaganda. Bye!

(34,845 posts)Sanders does little of that. He sees himself as a one-man army. Maybe it's not his fault, it's just the way he's constructed. But it's the reason he's losing the nomination, IMO.

(38,437 posts)It's also why Sanders lost by double digits in in closed primaries, including the state of his birth -- because he's such a Democrat that Dems won't vote for him.
Boy, we are SO not Democrats.

Just because a person has a D after their name doesn't mean much compared to what they stand for. After all wasn't that Kim Davis a Democrat?

(38,437 posts)The Sanders crowd are very fond of being exclusive of anyone who doesn't fall into line. And this is the same crowd supposedly fighting against the Establishment.
What a joke.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)Yes, because they have political beliefs that differ from those they don't support. There is nothing wrong with backing a candidate you believe in against a candidate that doesn't share your values in a primary. Last time I checked that was called democracy.

The IRS targeting the Tea Party, the Justice Departments seizure of AP phone records and James Rosens emails all these scandals. Obamas allowed his hatred for his enemies to screw him the way Nixon did, incompetent and feckless.
He agreed to the arrangement but then he reneged on the deal. His word isnt worth sh*t, The bad blood between us is just too much to overcome.
Opps, did I say Sanders ... sorry, that was some other "Democratic" candidate

(24,853 posts)It's no longer about having Democratic ideals; it's about belonging to the club. What makes me laugh is they think they're part. NEWSFLASH it's a big club but they ain't in it.
And Bernie Sanders is more of a Democrat (harkening back to when it was an ideal and not a paycheck) than Hillary Clinton could ever DREAM of being.
