Bernie has made the party better (obviously against their own will)

This is a good explanation of why I originally supported Bernie and still do. I really hope he sticks to his guns and goes all the way to the convention. It would be nice if he won, and I'm still hoping he does, but even if he doesn't it's not as if coming in at 40%+ is the exact same thing as coming in at 0% like some around here describe it.

The movement is real and ignoring it would be a stupid move for the dems.

If the party establishment continues to silence and squash a deep and growing dissatisfaction, then there will be a sizeable exodus, rather than tremendous growth. Sanders is showing the direction the party needs to go to secure a solid future. The Third Way is only concerned with keeping their places at the corporate feed trough.

I've always admired the honestly of Mark Shields. He gets the Bernie thing.

I think it's exposed the party more then improved it, sadly. The party, pretty much all of it, has doubled down against populist movements, in support of more triangulating corporatism. I've actually been shocked at the extent of this.

How will it move forward? Most likely under the leadership of the Clinton dynasty, in which case any "improvements" will most likely vanish the day after inauguration (we've seen it before).

I'd like to believe it's improved the party, but I've seen no signs of it. You can't improve something that doesn't want to improve.

Our only hope is to vote out corporatists from positions of power (we see how that's going in this election, massive institutional resistance) or start over somewhere else.

edit to add: I just watched the linked video, the Bernie-related part starts about 9 minutes in (to spare anyone who just wants to see that).

While it was great to see them give Bernie some credit, that's about all that's worthwhile in this, IMHO, there is no redirection or improvement of the party that I can see unless Bernie wins the primary, or unless, in the aftermath of losing, there is a massive revolt within the party to oust the corporate side, unlikely at best during a Clinton presidency, though it might happen should she lose to the Repub.
