Under Hillary Clinton, the State Department approved $165 billion worth of commercial arms sales to 20 nations whose governments had given millions to the Clinton Foundation.Even by the standards of arms deals between the United States and Saudi Arabia, this one was enormous. A consortium of American defense contractors led by Boeing would deliver $29 billion worth of advanced fighter jets to the United States' oil-rich ally in the Middle East.
Israeli officials were agitated, reportedly complaining to the Obama administration that this substantial enhancement to Saudi air power risked disrupting the region's fragile balance of power. The deal appeared to collide with the State Departments documented concerns about the repressive policies of the Saudi royal family.
But now, in late 2011, Hillary Clintons State Department was formally clearing the sale, asserting that it was in the national interest. At press conferences in Washington to announce the departments approval, an assistant secretary of state, Andrew Shapiro, declared that the deal had been a top priority for Clinton personally. Shapiro, a longtime aide to Clinton since her Senate days, added that the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army have excellent relationships in Saudi Arabia.

(17,064 posts)Millions went to conferences, first class air travel for the Clintons, etc. sizeable donations went to Dolores Huerta's foundation, in exchange for her support. It has all the appearance of a slush fund for money-laundering.

(12,322 posts)Who did you vote for? It is, of course, your prerogative to not answer the question.
It's just kind of odd that you just tried to change the subject.

(17,064 posts)The DNC stripped us of delegates, because DWS tried to rig a primary election for Clinton. The DNC made it clear in advance any vote wouldn't count, and no delegates would be awarded. There was no primary election in my state.

What Democratic candidate would have received your vote?

(17,064 posts)After Clinton campaign caused us to lose our votes, I wrote a $500 check to Obama campaign.

(12,322 posts)There was a Primary held in January of 2008. Interesting. Thanks for the info.

(17,064 posts)It was a popularity contest, and Clinton was 'elected' Prom Queen. The DNC announced in advance no delegates would be awarded, and few people bothered to vote in a meaningless sham. The candidates were forbidden to campaign here. Obama followed that directive, Clinton did not.
Here's what happened. DWS and Sen Bill Nelson (both Third Way) are the de facto heads of State Party. Both Clinton supporters (DWS was state campaign chair). In an attempt to capitalize on Clinton name recognition, they had the primary moved to Jan. A Democrat lstate legislator introduced the bill, all the Democrats except one enthusiastically jumped on board, and Republicans went along with Democrats, laughing their asses off at Democrats shooting themselves in the foot. Howard Dean told the state party that DNC rules would be upheld, and delegates stripped, but State Party persisted in the sham. Schultz and Nelson made asses of themselves lying on TV claiming the Republicans made the Democrats do it. Lying through their teeth in the most disgusting manner. Florida was permitted to send a non-voting delegation. After Obama already had enough delegate votes, a token measure was given to allow some Fl and Mi delegate votes...but they were meaningless. Madfloridan covered this extensively, but Clinton supporters put their fingers in ears, went "la la la" and tried to discredit her for accurately reporting the story.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2015/05/31/clintons_corruption_126800.html
CharityWatch says even a minimally efficient foundation spends 60 percent of its budget on programs. In the years 2009-2012, the Clinton Foundation devoted just 15 percent to charitable grants, according to an analysis of IRS filings by The Federalist. That fell to 10 percent in 2013.
Forty-five percent was spent on salaries, perks and travel for staff.
Some senior staffers have more experience in politics than in charity work. Sidney Blumenthal was on the Clinton Foundation payroll while he was running a private intelligence service for Ms. Clinton.
The intelligence he gave her was mostly the opinions of Libyans with whom Mr. Blumenthal was drumming up business. He didnt disclose his dealings in extensive correspondence with the secretary of state, an apparent violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
Mr. Blumenthal had no security clearance but exchanged sensitive material, some of which has since been classified. Former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell is certain Ms. Clintons private server was hacked by foreign intelligence services.

(11,546 posts)there is no way that she would have come close to being nominated. These days people give corruption like this a free pass.
All Nixon did was make some tapes!!

(17,064 posts)I think the GOP is even amazed and impressed at the level of Clinton corruption. From dead broke to worth 100s of millions in 16 years...not counting billions more the Foundation has taken in. Tammany Hall would even blush.

This was part of the administration's goal, since (like it or not) Saudi Arabia remains important to the US.
