Howard Dean: Sanders ‘getting pretty close to the end’

Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean (D) on Friday said Bernie Sanders’s Democratic presidential campaign is on its last legs.

“I have been exactly where Bernie is, or pretty close to where Bernie is,” he said on MSNBC, referencing his unsuccessful 2004 White House run.

“I know how hard this is,” Dean added on "Morning Joe." "This is when you see you’re not going to win. If he has the week it looks like he’s going to have, we’re getting pretty close to the end.”

Dean said he thinks Sanders will struggle with suspending his bid.

“I’m sure he’s very angry. ... He’s even more competitive than I am."

“He couldn’t stand to lose a pickup basketball game in Burlington,” Dean added, referring to the Vermont city where Sanders once served as mayor. "He doesn’t apologize. He doesn’t back down. It’s not in his nature. This is going to be a hard transition for him.”

so yours is hardly an unbiased or credible observation.

It fits your narrative? or is it your crystal ball that tells you what I am thinking? I still have hopes he wins, but I don't think it. Mostly because we have a electorate that doesn't seem to care about facts. An electorate that will shoot themselves twice in the foot..1 time with Bill Clinton and his disastrous deregulation that brought us the 2008 economic crisis and now an electorate that is going to give us another hawk who loves to do shady deals that ones where the exclusive territory of the republicans. Be proud to keep a corrupt finance system and those who are at the basis of it in power.

Many of Bernie supporters came to this realization after NY. However, that does not mean I think Bernie should drop out. I have maintained that he should keep campaigning until the last state votes in June.

In addition, they made good use of the Internet to spread information and to try to gain support.

As to brutally honest, I think it is more accurate to say angry and outspoken.

If he just "keeps competing" then he's sure to win the nomination based on sheer willpower alone. When he wins 100% of the delegates from all the remaining primaries, it's totally in-the-bag for Bernie.

Nothing here to analyze or understand ...

You know ... like actual delegate counts, or math, or votes, or math, or polls, or math. Oh, and then there's math, and the fact that there are a finite number of delegates available. Bernie can't just magically make more appear out of thin air. It's not the same as soliciting donations, where there's always another $27 to be found somewhere.

His campaign was over after Iowa. Not necessary because of the faux scream, but because he blew such a big lead and only would up with 18 %. Once he lost on Jan. 27 by 10 % in NH, it was clear Kerry would be the nominee.

He didn't withdraw until 3 weeks laer.

He dropped out because he had not won a single state. After dropping out he won Vermont, but even then it was not by 86 percent. He earned only 114 pledged delegates. In fact, Bernie currently has far more pledged delegates than the total of all Kerry opponents had at the end of the contests.

Dean was MUCH further behind when he conceeded.
