"Oh those Republicans are so bad."
That'll be the Democrat platform.

(47,803 posts)Same thing is going that happen that always happens. It's like Bill Clinton's endless laundry list State of the Union speeches combined with his Dick Morris V-Chip campaign.
A lot of nice little micro proposals and bright shiny objects, while not discussing the Gorillas in the Room.
"Forget that I just signed laws that encourage Corporate and Banking Monopolies. Forget that I just signed another free trade deal that makes government more accountable to corporations to not interfere with their ability to make a profit. Forget that my economic team is made up of free-market conservatives and banksters."
The country needs a transplant and we'll get bandaids.

(47,803 posts)But ultimately they're mostly no more likely to see the light of day than Bernie's proposals.
The problem I have with the Clintons is the whole context they have created that has pushed the party overall to the right. It has made the Democrats an accomplice to a series of larger policies and a framewiork that has allowed the country to be sold out from under us...It's not only the Clintons personally, but the while machine and mentality they represent.
And before you accuse me of being an unrealistic malcontent or something -- I am at heart a moderate liberal who has agreed totally with the spirit expressed by Obama in his Big Picture speeches. (But I do wish Obama had more Bernie and less Clinton in him.)
The problem is that in actual practicethe rise of the "centrists" over the last three decades has been contrary to that message in the actual workings of Democratic politics and their cumulative effect on government and the larger society.
