The Romney surrogate backtracks from his remark that Colin Powell only endorsed Obama because he is blackBY JILLIAN RAYFIELD
John Sununu is walking back his comment that Colin Powell only endorsed Barack Obama because they are both black.
Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire and current campaign surrogate for Mitt Romney, told CNNs Piers Morgan last night: Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder if thats an endorsement based on issues, or whether hes got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama.
When pressed, he elaborated: Well, I think when you have somebody of your own race that youre proud of being president of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him.
After the interview, Sununu put out the following statement, via National Review Online:
Sununu previously described Obama as lazy and detached after the first debate, and said at a different point: I wish this president would learn how to be an American. He also backtracked on those comments.

(60,339 posts)You either said it or you didn't, you can't say no, that's not what I said.
These are professional people and they know what they are saying when they put it out there. They know it is inflammatory, they know who they are targeting.
The fact that they get away with this shit is evidence to how poor our media is. They are complaisant in the insult to Americans.

I agree with y'all - I am tired of this campaign saying what they really mean then trying to "walk it back" the next day. As if trying to put the genie back in the bottle really works.

Why the hell would you WANT to stay with a party like that?!
I do NOT understand minorities and LGBTQ's in the GOP. Why not be independent if you don't agree with Democratic policy views? Why the hell would you want to stay where you aren't wanted?!
