AZ Senate: John McCain & Jon Kyl endorse Rich Carmona in killer new ad

I've been wondering when we'd get to see some of this in a campaign ad.
This was released yesterday, 10/25.

Isn't it great? I friggin love it.

No, they didn't endorse him for Senate in 2012, but for Surgeon General in 2002. It never says explicitly that they endorse him for the Senate, but they sure sing his praises. Rest assured, McCain and Kyl are whining about it -- calling it dishonest. Awww...

In answer to the "Carmona will be a rubber-stamp for Obama" repeated claim in the Flake ads, they put out another excellent ad yesterday titled Independent:

Her PAC has raised about $587,000 so far, and she's been spending it primarily to defeat Ron Barber, Anne Kirkpatrick, Kyrsten Sinema and Rich Carmona.

I hope Brewer is scowling even more than usual on Nov. 7.

Next week, I have one more donation for his campaign. I hope he wins.

1. McCain and Kyl issue joint statement...

McCain and Kyl blasted the ad in a joint statement late Thursday, calling it blatantly deceptive. It read:

"In a deeply dishonest new TV ad, Richard Carmona implies that we support his campaign for Senate. We do not. Mr. Carmona is committed to raising taxes and government spending, increasing our nation’s already out-of-control debt, and he supports President Obama’s health care law, Obamacare. Let’s be clear: Richard Carmona’s first vote in the Senate would be for Harry Reid and the Obama agenda. As his new ad makes clear, Mr. Carmona is also willing to say or do just about anything to promote the interests of Richard Carmona, not the interests of the people of Arizona. It is shameful for Richard Carmona to try to deceive the voters in this way. It shows that he has no credibility, and it says everything the voters of Arizona need to know about Richard Carmona’s fitness for office. Jeff Flake is our candidate. He is a courageous, independent Arizona conservative - and he’s honest."

that must be why they lie so easily and so outrageously.

This is A) a clever ad that B) clearly identifies that both endorsements were for the position of Surgeon-General.

The point of the ad was not that McCain and Kyl were endorsing Carmona in this election - the point of the ad is that endorsements of character and general capability are simply not, and cannot be context specific.

They said those things presumably because they meant those things.
