2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLMAO--Romney running ads in Minnesota
Obvious attempt to sustain the BS "momentum" meme and get the press talking saying "wow! He's doing so well, he's surging so much he has a chance at Minnesota!"
It strikes me as desperate.

(879 posts)1) Desperately projecting strength in a state he can't win (this is straight from Karl Rove, see Bush campaigning in Cali in 2000).
2) It's not a total waste because you can still hit some of Wisconsin in Minnesota TV markets.

(1,977 posts)The ABC affiliate WMUR in Manchester. All the other major network stations from Boston cover NH. There are local stations I think - don't remember. So to hit NH on network stations you have to buy time on Boston based stations.

(53,041 posts)and I took the absence of ads to mean we were safely blue, despite some of the public polling. All I see are Bachmann/Graves ads. I'm in the Twin Cities. Could he be showing them elsewhere in the state?
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,799 posts)and thought it strange at the time that he would bother to advertise here at all. I think the intended audience is probably western WI, since he has no chance in MN.
BainsBane
(53,041 posts)I have seen them on MSNBC. Somehow it didn't occur to me they were placed locally. I guess I don't know how advertising really works.

(35,701 posts)He would be better off spending the money in Virginia or North Carolina. Though there is a limit to how many ads one can run before they have no effect or even a negative effect.

(34,108 posts)All of them. Even for the Dems. It's a ridiculous saturation. I don't even hear them anymore.

(3,333 posts)It's a bullshit move.
Complete desperation.

(85 posts)It's 30 years since a republican candidate won Minnesota! Even Reagan couldn't do it.
The only potential benefit is media spillover into other states and to try and build on the supposed momentum stance.
