(18,115 posts)devoid of detail or any way to verify the claims. As it stands now, if that is all you got, you got nothing here.
I have no way to confirm any of this. Not a shrewd of evidence that anything actually happened, whether something happened as he said it did and YOU have no evidence it was a Bernie supporter. You should edit your bullshit headline.

You post the claims here while adding that Bernie fans are threatening to kill someone with NO evidence, I will take you to task.
shadowandblossom
(718 posts)You just saw evidence. A WaPo journalist said that happened to him. That is evidence. There are jerks on the internet who do this stuff and it's not that surprising after all the BS supporter harrassment campaigns against those who disagree with them that some real thugs are going to come out of the deep woods.

(385 posts)Some idiots make death threats and publish Bumps address on the internet.
Did they claim to be Bernie supporters? The initial tweet by Bump does not state that faith based "fact". It appears that Bump assumes they are Bernie supporters.
If they did claim to be Bernie supporters, is that truthful? Or is it a prank by sociopaths with no political allegiance?
Bump has the perfect right to be outraged. He is morally and ethically wrong to place sny blame on Bernie or his supporters.

(718 posts)The point is that enough of us have experienced it and seen it that its bad enough that foreign journalists have discussed it.
Anyway, here's a section from an article from the latimes about Bernie supporters tactically harassing people from just this week alone.
These people are worried someone is going to come to their house, said Bob Mulholland, a Democratic political operative in California who supports Clinton and recently wrote an open letter to the Sanders campaign accusing it of fanning the flames of harassment. They have been put on a hit list.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even so, the Sanders campaign has struggled for months with loutish behavior online that extends beyond a few jerks. Most any woman who has said anything critical about Bernie or positive about Hillary on social media has been subject to Bernie bro harassment, said Laura Olin, who advised the 2012 Obama campaign on social media.
A frequent target is Joan Walsh, a national affairs correspondent for the Nation, who is supporting Clinton for president, though the magazine has endorsed Sanders. They never stop, and you wind up on Twitter trying to convince a BernieBro that BernieBros exist -- and even as he's being Exhibit A, he's calling you a whore, $hill, sellout and on and on, she said in a direct message on Twitter.
Jill Filipovic, a freelance journalist and attorney who often writes positively about Sanders, said that when she criticizes him, she is subjected to a mass dogpiling of tweets sort of treating you like youre a dumb girl.
The degree to which any criticism of this candidate is met with this complete brick wall of rage -- its like criticizing Jesus, she said. Its truly bizarre.

I'm attaching a link that shows a youtube video by somebody that thinks Martin O' Malley is a devil. I thought about contacting the person to let them know about a medical condition that could make your pupils look that way, or explaining it could be to do with the angle and lighting, but I realized that that person probably couldn't be reasoned with so I didn't bother. I think the same thing is happening here in so far as evidence, which you have already been given, is irrelevant to you.

(12,504 posts)And has been a point of multi public discussions as well as articles have been written over and over, face book pages linked to for people like Jande Goodall, Rep Lewis and Super delegates have complained....Bernie has encouraged them because he never reigned them in. It was only a matter of time for that envelope to get pushed out further and further until the lines of decency are crossed to a point of no return. Bernie should reign them in maybe even chastise them, and then distance himself so they understand this is not acceptable.

(47,803 posts)Hate springs Eternal
I wont try for fake evenhandedness here: most of the venom I see is coming from supporters of Mr. Obama, who want their hero or nobody. Im not the first to point out that the Obama campaign seems dangerously close to becoming a cult of personality. Weve already had that from the Bush administration remember Operation Flight Suit? We really dont want to go there again.
Whats particularly saddening is the way many Obama supporters seem happy with the application of Clinton rules the term a number of observers use for the way pundits and some news organizations treat any action or statement by the Clintons, no matter how innocuous, as proof of evil intent.
During the current campaign, Mrs. Clintons entirely reasonable remark that it took L.B.J.s political courage and skills to bring Martin Luther King Jr.s dream to fruition was cast as some kind of outrageous denigration of Dr. King.....
For now, Clinton rules are working in Mr. Obamas favor. But his supporters should not take comfort in that fact.
For one thing, Mrs. Clinton may yet be the nominee and if Obama supporters care about anything beyond hero worship, they should want to see her win in November.
For another, if history is any guide, if Mr. Obama wins the nomination, he will quickly find himself being subjected to Clinton rules. Democrats always do.
But most of all, progressives should realize that Nixonland is not the country we want to be. Racism, misogyny and character assassination are all ways of distracting voters from the issues, and people who care about the issues have a shared interest in making the politics of hatred unacceptable.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
There is no evidence that any threats were made and certainly no evidence that said threats were made by 'bernie fans'.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Apr 18, 2016, 09:20 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: If there's no proof then take it up with the guy on Twitter. Stop alerting threads bc you disagree with them. LEAVE
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: If it's the guy that wrote the article he is well an idiot.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Philip Bump is being a jackass both with his false story and with his assertions that everyone is who they seem on twitter. Likewise, geek tragedy is being a jackass and has no intention of fostering honest discussion on DU. However, being a jackass is not a TOS violation and is not against community standards. Vote to leave. ~JonLeibowitz
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Things like this are posted all the time. Twitter is used all the time to attack Hillary fans. You don't get to alert when it's done to you. I'm voting to leave.

(718 posts)He needs to start condemning the harassment; and doing it more vigorously and loudly. There will always be some crazies out there, but, putting his foot down would reduce the level of the vitriol, and helps reduce the chance of the real crazies getting too overexcited and taking it to these more frightening places.
There will always be some people who are nuts, but there are ways to blunt the more frightening impulses of the extreme fringe.
