Project New America Poll: Obama 46% Romney 43% in Colorado
DENVER A new survey of Colorado voters from a Democrat-leaning company shows President Barack Obama leading Republican Mitt Romney by a 46-43 percent margin.
Thats within the polls 4.4 percent margin of error.
Project New America, which commissioned the poll, is a Colorado-based research and consulting firm aimed at helping clients, mostly Democrats, better understanding demographic shifts and trends in the west and across the country.
The survey of 500 likely Colorado voters, conducted Tuesday and Wednesday by live interviewers, found Obama holding on to a large edge with Hispanic voters, 67-21 percent over Romney, and with women, 51-36.
The sample of voters was 33 percent Republicans, 34 percent Democrats and 33 percent unaffiliated voters; and it included a number of cell phone only households.
Were about trying to get it right, PNAs Jill Hanauer told FOX31 Denver. Polling is going to change so much over the next four years because of cell phones. Pollsters are going to have to make sure theres a mix of cell phones, we do texting now to get interviews, we do lots of online interviews now.
While we are a Democrat-oriented firm, but were not agenda-driven. We want to get it right.
According to Hanauer, the same voting blocs that put Michael Bennet over the edge in his 2010 senate race, women and Latinos, mostly, are coalescing around the president.
