Republicans always use the term "activists judges" But the judges they choose are true activists.

Right wing judges continue to make new law. It is always and gawd dammit I mean always project with these people. Scalia presents himself as a God and continues to wet his pants on the idea of overturning Roe vs. Wade. Right wing judges are politicians in robe.

They are all "activist".

I'm related a federal judge... I've met federal judges... I know a Supreme Court judge.... and they all have politics... promise.

But even knowing this, it is impressive how most of them will entertain an argument, honestly, if not skeptically, from the other side; but with hot button issues... you'll probably never get them to change a preconceived idea.
