California weenie worried about Eastern storm

I know you guys back there are a hardy breed, but I'm concerned how badly this storm will affect early voting, should it occur. The last thing we want is long lines on November 6th.

I'm a commercial property manager, and long distance manage properties in PA, NY, CT and SC. Always worrying about storm damage and floods.

Sandy won't have an effect on us. But, who knows what the weather holds on election day? The urban NY voters go out on foot in all types of weather as do the suburban voters. There are liberals all over the state, but in the more remote counties the population gets more conservative and folks have to drive farther to exercise their right to vote. I just don't see people around here fired up to vote for Rmoney and if the weather is iffy that day--meh. Maybe only Obama voters will turn out. Dems are FIRED UP! NY will deliver for Obama. Don't worry about us, PlanetBev.

If Mr. Pup gets his animation project off the ground, we would definitely come out. Love to meet you! And thanks for the gracious invitation.

My in-laws aren't far from the beach - maybe 2-3 miles inland.

My BIL is a little closer.

...is nowhere near the beach!

In Brooklyn, you can live 2 miles from the beach, and never know it's even there.
I'm not worried about this storm.
Just more silliness...

If the trio actually hits, Sandy/early winter storm/Artic blast, the Ski resorts will be estatic.

until after the poll closed (everyone still in line was allowed to vote, even after the polls had officially close). I think all told, we were there for 6 hours. Don't worry about us East Coasters, we'll vote, even if it takes a while.

The forecasters ARE talking about major power outages that could last for a while. I think they are not as concerned about damage to buildings and trees because the storm is not expected to be really powerful....Cat. 3 or more. But the possibility of power outages does exist and depending on how long it takes them to get the lines back up and functioning COULD very well influence the ability to open the polls as scheduled on Nov. 6th.

No one in the potential path of this storm should ignore the warnings. If you wait until they tell you exactly where it will make landfall, you could be out of time to go away from the where it will strike. If you plan to stay, you may not have time to make adequate preparations. Better to be prepared and not have to go through it than to find out too late to prepare.

But I am worried about outages here. We are notorious for having outages like with the last Derecho. What candidate that may harm? I just don't know.
