which is bad enough, & polls indicating Romney is winning by at least THREE! What are other people thinking as to whether this Robber Baron will actually win??
I have a doctor's appointment, so won't be back for a while... I just need to hear something that will lift my spirits!
Thank you!

(2,100 posts)Luckily, we don't need Florida and winning it would be a bonus.
I like our chances in Virginia compared to Florida and Virginia would be just as heavy a knockout punch.

(340 posts)Will be nice to have for our "mandate" , but its not vital to winning this election. If we just hold on to Ohio, VA, and Wisconsin we are golden. Any other state would just be more votes towards our "mandate" getting more of our agenda through.

(32,068 posts)but I'm not willing to concede yet and neither should you. There are a lot of other states - Obama is going to win CA/NY and I see him taking Wisconsin & Ohio as well.

(15,435 posts)Fantastic turnout too. Most Democratic candidates ever come here, but he has. Went to two rallies of his in 2008, here & in Dunedin. Thousands & thousands turned out both times.
Saturday there will be another walk across Ringling bridge. That was really fun too. Shocked Repukes here in Sarasota. It will be super if the crowd is as large. So many of us were shocked at turnout. Repukes said even back then that we went out and got people from around the state! I'm sure people came from all around, but it was a rally, NOT voting.
Thanks for the input though.

(57 posts)beacuse Obama only has to pick up NV,WI,OH and the whole election is over. All 3 states have been consistently in Obama's favor.

(5,810 posts)flogging the idea that Romney is winning. Period. They have already started to ease off of that but the Romney people are still pushing it.
For additional comfort, check out Dr. Wang's information at http://election.princeton.edu/
He's got the cure for what ails you. After you read his analysis, you won't be so worried about what happens in Florida. There are several paths to 270 + for Obama and Dr. Wang will help you understand where things stand now.

(15,435 posts)this input. To those of us down here we know all too well what CAN go wrong! My county is super red & of course it's all I hear... Romney this & Romney that! All I do anymore is scratch my head and give them my "you're obviously crazy" look!
It's really useless trying to have a meaningful conversation with most of them. I've tried so many times to find ways to get to some middle ground. I have had some nice talks, but rarely am able to change minds.
Grammy23, thanks for the link and to the others here with links. TWELVE MORE days seems longer than this whole year so far. So many, many polls everywhere but I still get sucked in. My brain tells me to think logically, my stomach & nerves don't want to go along. I've lived here so long you'd think I'd get used to it... but so far it still upsets me.
Vern Buchanan is my Rep, he got elected the 1st time when everyone knew he had lawsuits against him & there were over 18,000 undervotes which never got cleared up. More lawsuits against him now than before, but the polls have him beating Keith Fitzgerald by almost 2 to 1! He also was investigated for ethics violations, but he's another Repuke who skated without any action taken against him. Gotta stop, but could go on & on about this STATE!
Thanks again everyone!

(35,699 posts)And of course he probably doesn't need Florida if he gets Ohio which is looking more and more likely. An analysis which I did here of Nate Silver's numbers may cheer you up.

(13,616 posts)This state is balanced with the very best and very worst North America has to offer. I say that because we are a mix of everyone from Canada to the Caribbean, and all points in between. Some parts are as much Dixie as Mississippi, some parts are as much Mexico as Juarez. We have always been a ployglot, a group of people that ran here from somehwere else; even the Seminole came here from up North, replacing native tribes like the Calusa and Timacua.
There are enough non Cuban Hispanics and Older people to go for Obama, but the GOP was been SORE about a state that was supposedly Red tunring Blue. This is still the state where many southerners are mad at the Yankees for coming down, and where many of those yankee transplants feel they were run out of NYC by brown people and Democrats. Let us not even mention the Cubans, many of whom have been planning the post castro cuba for more then 25 years. It also helps that out local Democrats are milquetoast, including Ms. Debbie-Wasserman Schultz.
On the other habnd, there are enough people sick and tired of all of the above that the anger has boiled over. They also know that they finally have demographics on their side. It does not help that out brand of Republican is the sort that makes Texans look like Canadians by comparison. The corruption in this state would make New Orleans look like a city on the hill, and enough people are sick of it, especially since Rick Scott has played his hand so brashly that even the GOP cannot cover for him as well anymore.
So, the GOP has stepped up their game, but the level of outrage is rising like ocean tides. I think that we may win Florida, but I also realize that this state has been programmed to steal it, with a machine of REAL VOTE FRAUD, and vigilantes ready to harass voters. I hope we win, and I can tel;l you there are enough pissed off people we can, but if we do not, we will still need to keep going, as the tides of rage are rising, no matter how many GOP fools stick their fingers in the wall.

(15,435 posts)it was very much more Democratic. Bob Graham was Governor & then a Senator. But now with ALL it's past history & the likes of Rick Scott, it's so much worse!!
I know about Seminole Indians here and actually live in part of the area that they settled at. Little place called Nokomis, which many have said means "Mother Earth." Since my husband is a native of Florida & has some Indian blood, we've gone to many pow-wows around here. His grandmother was part Seminole.
Rick Scott is Jeb Bush's puppet as is Rubio! As you said, this place is more than corrupt. He only lost Florida by about 237 votes, but I'm not even sure he really lost. I know I worked as a poll watcher and we had trouble with Diebold machines at the end of the day. Many votes put aside because machine wouldn't take them. I saw it with my own eyes. Did they get voted later, who knows!!
Just one of the reasons I worry so much,

(43 posts)St. Pete, to be exact. St. Pete is odd. You have $500K houses two blocks away from $50K cracker box houses. Was looking for an address from Craigslist that took me into the "rich" neighborhood and having to see house after McMansion each with RMoney signs in the yards. You cross the 5 lane major road less than a 1/4 mile away to the working class neighborhood with $50K houses with a few Obama signs here and there and it's just heartbreaking that the rich rub it in your face. Even more disheartening is the $50K house with the Rmoney sign, one with an empty chair attached (get it) ... fools, like Rmoney would even wipe his butt with you.
