Clooney hopes Sanders stays in the race (Has he gone rogue?)

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/clooney-hopes-sander-stays-in-222055

One of Hillary Clinton’s most famous supporters, actor George Clooney, says he hopes Bernie Sanders “stays in for the entire election.”

Clooney, who hosted a big-dollar fundraiser for the former secretary of state Friday, said in an interview aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he likes the Vermont senator, who has been challenging Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“I think what he's saying in this election is important if you're a Democrat,” Clooney said, adding he'd do “whatever I can” to help Sanders if he wins the nomination.

Clooney also said he understood the criticism from protesters outside Friday’s event for Clinton, who has long been the Democratic front-runner, saying he shared their distaste for money in politics.

“They're absolutely right,” Clooney said of protesters. “It is an obscene amount of money. The Sanders campaign when they talk about it is absolutely right. It's ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics. I agree completely.”

Did Bill make a pass at Amal?

Good Lord, something must have gone seriously wrong at that dinner!

Or is Hollywood just abandoning Clinton and Clooney desperately trying to unhitch himself?

2. I think Clooney-- like many many many Democrats (outside, it appears most of DU),

likes both candidates; while supporting Secretary Clinton, he is not at all strongly opposed to Sanders.

I have scarcely posted on DU the past year because I can not stand the rabid (and frequently very ugly unsubstantiated accusations) that mark opposition to either candidate.

I respect Clooney for recognizing that either candidate is going to be an unquestionably positive alternative to any and all Republican challengers. No doubt Clooney (as I), will work like crazy to get our Democratic nominee (whoever that should be) elected.

7. It is not talked about because it is a serious distortion of what the Hillary Victory Fund is about.

The Hillary Victory Fund is setup to utilize loopholes to allow wealthy individuals to contribute more than they would legally be allowed to if the loophole had not been opened by the justice branch of government.

That article doesn't delve into money being shuffled that way ending up back in Hillary's campaign committee (also part of this loophole)... So it is true she is helping downtickets in this way, but a big part of the Hillary Victory Fund is allowing her donors to raise more than legally allowed (without the loophole) to her campaign and the DNC. I don't even think Republicans have done something so chummy.

Hillary states she is raising money for down ballot Democrats, but how do they get the money if it's all given back?

He doesn't want to piss off the people who still go to the movies.

There’s something magical about going to see a new release in theaters, and evidently Millennials agree. Despite the fact that Millennials have unprecedented access to free movies and television shows on the Internet—whether legally or illegally—it seems that Millennials have as much of a love for the big screen as prior generations, with 53% of ticket sales in the U.S. coming from Millennial filmgoers.
