2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHere comes the latest anti-Bernie meme.
I can see it coming. There have been multiple posts predicting that Sanders supporters who are not registered as Democrats will flood the polling places, stand around, object when not allowed to vote, complain, cause confusion, slow things down, etc. Their purpose in doing these things will be to allow for complaints about cheating and disenfranchisement when Bernie loses. Of course there will be some people who think they get to vote in the Democratic primary even though they are not registered as Democrats, and some of them will make noise and cause trouble. All it will require is a few hundred such incidents and we will see charges of Sanders Anarchists trying to foul the process. So get ready because it's coming, whether or not it causes any real problems. Kind of like the Vatican trip.

(5,792 posts)debates and rally's and speeches were not seen by many at the time. It's unethical at least and rigging at best to disenfranchise.

She is a tsunami of narcissistic destruction.

I'm working in PA with their contracted software, and I don't like how it limits us from getting out the vote this week.
Debbie... Shame on you. All this for WHAT? Someone you want to get into office SO BADLY that you're willing to seriously limit what can truly build voters.... Just so long as they're YOUR kind of voters.

(17,651 posts)Same with the transcripts. No one gives or should give a shit about Republicans making multiple $250k speeches IF they even did - doesn't matter now!
This isn't the GE , it's the DEMOCRATIC primary.

I would point out though that it would be pretty tough to top the duplicitousness of John Edwards.

You have to treat them with respect, but be firm.

(45,319 posts)shamefully low. In 2014 for example only Texas and Indiana had lower turnout than NY's. Under 29%. For perspective, my State of Oregon was disappointed in our low turnout of 69%, 40% higher than NY's.
It's year in and year out, has virtually nothing to do with being a closed primary (Oregon is also a closed primary State) and there is nothing at all in the recent election figures out of NY to allow even a bit of pride to the State around participation and voter access issues. NY has much reform needed in election systems.
Any State that has turnout below 50% is in no position to parade about calling others stupid losers in elections. I'd be embarrassed to be a NYer with those figures. But NYers are all super proud of it and that's amazing to me.

(45,319 posts)In 2014 NY was the lowest turnout of any Blue State, only Indiana and Texas were lower in turnout than NY. How low? Less than 29%. My State had 69% and we thought that was too low.
So I very much do not understand NY Democrats who affect a great love of their current election systems and protocols. NY is deep into voter apathy and few bother to participate at all but NY Hillary supporter seem openly proud of the low turnout and awful regulations that are regularly criticized by election activists in NY and around the country.

(6,409 posts)Remember the Occupy protests? There were usually a few anarchists who showed up and injected some violence. The media, or "journalists," as they like to call themselves, portrayed all the protesters according to the anarchists' actions. I thought they had to know the difference, but they looked right into their cameras and told the American people that the streets had been taken over by thousands of violent thugs. I guess they really could be that stupid.

(5,562 posts)Complicit at the top. I saw an article about how reporters are told to go easy on Clinton and ignore or denigrate Bernie or its their jobs. You know they did the same thing with Occupy.

What people do at the polls is vote. Those who can't vote because they aren't registered as Democrats won't be counted. That's how NY does these elections. That's been known for a very, very long time.
