CALCULUS: The NRA Spent Thousands to Get Bernie Elected Then He Voted With ThemBernies response is disingenuous: In 1988, before I was elected to Congress I was in a race, three-way race, the gun lobby was against me [in] that race because I said in 1988 that we should not have assault weapons sold or distributed in this country I lost that race because I said in 1988, lets ban assault weapons in this country. So to keep attacking me, I think, is unfair.
Disingenuous, because when Bernie ran again two years later, hed learned his lesson. According to the Washington Post:
As a candidate in 1990, Sanders won over gun rights groups by promising to oppose one bill they hated a measure that would establish a waiting period for handgun sales. In Congress, he kept that promise. The dynamic served as an early demonstration that, despite his pure-leftist persona, Sanders was at his core a pragmatic politician, calculating that he couldnt win in rural Vermont without doing something for gun owners.
Bernie modulated his position, and the NRA decided to go after his Republican opponent Peter Smith, pouring money into ads opposing Smith, which they knew would benefit Bernie. NRA honcho Wayne LaPierre endorsed Bernie, writing to members: Bernie Sanders is a more honorable choice for Vermont sportsmen than Peter Smith. It worked.
Bernie won. And he kept his word.
According to Correct the Record:

(30,099 posts)The legislation the families wanted after the Newtown slaughter was defeated with the
help of four Democrats..Bernie voted for it and has been against assault weapons.
They are stuck having to go after the manufacturers due to those Democrats, not Bernie
and it will be tough for them..as it will not end up with what want they really wanted.
Hillary becomes president, how will she get those people to vote with her?

(30,099 posts)There was no wink wink transaction, he supported his votes..right or wrong.
I don't agree with him on Brady Bill, and I support the lawsuit against the manufacturers.
*"He wasn't opposed to states having (waiting periods) if they wanted to. The Republicans wanted to repeal waiting periods in states that had them, and Bernie voted that down," Weaver said. "He said he would be against waiting periods, and he kept his word to the people of Vermont."
In April 1991, Sanders then-chief of staff Anthony Pollina echoed the idea that Sanders was simply representing the will of his constituents.
"Bernies response is that he doesnt just represent liberals and progressives. He was sent to Washington to present all of Vermont," Pollina said. "Its not inappropriate for a congressman to support a majority position, particularly on something Vermonters have been very clear about."

(8,733 posts)See the Clintons never comment crimes, just surrounded themselves with people that did (see Whitewater, a total 15 people: friends, business partners and associates went to jail related to Whitewater).
In the case of her current financial "advisors", all come from criminal organizations like Goldman Sachs ( http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0X81TI )
Funny thing is that $5 billion doesn't even come close recovering what they took or the damage they caused to people's lives. No one went to jail.
What's that old joke, "steal $100 your a thief, steal a billion dollars, you're a Wall St investment banker."
FYI, the thief goes to jail, the investment banker is a free and clear millionaire.
People connected to organizations involved in LIBOR scandal, Panama Papers and the 2007 economic crash, all work for the Clinton campaign.

The Nation
EXCERPT...
For balance, then, it's important to review a small sample of what we have learned thanks to WikiLeaks since April and the release of the "Collateral Murder" US helicopter video, which showed the killing of two Reuters journalists, among others. It's necessary to do this because most in the US media, after brief coverage, provided little follow-up. Consider the scope of even this very limited list of revelations (and I have not even included the shockers that some feel helped spark this month's revolt in Tunisia):
§?The Saudis, our allies, are among the leading funders of international terrorism.
§?The scale of corruption in Afghanistan tops even the worst estimates. President Hamid Karzai regularly releases major drug dealers who have political connections. His half-brother is a major drug operator.
SNIP...
§?The British government assured Washington that our interests would be protected in its "independent" public inquiry into the Iraq War.
§?The Pakistani government has allowed its intelligence unit to hold strategy sessions with the Taliban. Despite longstanding denials, the United States has indeed been conducting special ops inside Pakistan and taking part in joint operations with the Pakistanis.
SNIP...
§ The U.S. embassy in Paris advised Washington to start a military-style trade war against any European Union country which opposed genetically modified (GM) crops.
