(31,849 posts)hillary is not a 3rd way road to destruction. And, what IS strange is the idea that a Democrat would think/say she is.

want to do apartheid in South Africa
who were the american politicians that fought to end - who stood with keeping on the same track
you have not shown that you know much about some major changes
it might be easier if you suggested a topic that you do have some knowledge of

(2,145 posts)We no longer have a moral economy. It has been sold to the highest bidder. I fear you have no institutional memory. You may be Reagan propagandized. You certainly haven't explained how we continue to have a moral economy? Our immoral economy can be seen in climate-change propaganda, off-shore tax havens, reduction of government money going to states for education, privatization of education and medical, once non-profit insurance companies turning for-profit. It is all around us.
You've changed the direction of the post and it is a distraction. Obviously, the 1% Kochs who are spending millions and millions if not billions are sneering at the idea of a moral economy. You totally confuse me in your divergence from the point of the post

(2,145 posts)Took the thread off her point and nothing of substance came of it. That's all. I may be on here too much but when I'm drawn off into pointless distractions, I get annoyed. Sorry if I was wrong about your intention.

(22,913 posts)And none will accept that that is what they are doing, but to use an event like this as a springboard for sharply belittling a political opponent leaves a very sour after taste. Some here have been doing so.

Okay ... I haven't been reading the threads about the visit. I means so little to me, one way or the other.

(22,913 posts)They are like all things all over the map, but quite a few have a strong jeering tone to them. I think those reflect negatively much more on the jeerers than on who/what is being jeered.

(47,803 posts)I am NOT saying everyone who disagrees with Sanders on specific policies or who supports Clinton.
But the sneering and demeaning of Sanders message and intent, and the idealistic beliefs and goals of supporters -- yea that is demeaning at least an attempt to move us towards a moral economy
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)I think EVERYONE on this board seeks a "moral economy" ... we just disagree on how to get there and have differing opinions on how long it will take.
Armstead
(47,803 posts)We might get somewhere.
But when the idea like a truly universal healthcare system is demeaned as a "pony" and thousands of minute is dragged out to say it "isn't possible" unless it is driven by profit making corporations....
If so many arguments here were not based on the premise of "that's stupid. we can't reach that goal, so ignore the goal" rather than "Here's the goal, how can we reach it."
And people who press for actual change are not naive or ignorant...Maybe not expert in all things (no one is) but the time spent on putting down those intentions and marginalizing idealism is --- depressing and frustrating to put it mildly.
Tom Rinaldo
(22,913 posts)A respectful discussion about whether attending this event this will harm or improve Sander's chances in the NY Primary is one thing, but outright mockery is quite another. I don't think it is helping Hillary's cause. Fair or not, I think it just feeds into her negatives.

(22,913 posts)At least not after the initial flare up implying and in some cases saying that Bernie was attempting to crash a party.Mostly there's been some of the usual fixation on whether Bernie was shooting himself in the foot by leaving NY to go to Rome - but that is the stuff talking heads do to fill air time.

(68,918 posts)I enjoyed the conference speech, I'm glad Bernie went and the rest of it is all static in the background. Don't let them get you down. We are better than this. Most of us are anyways.

(52,589 posts)Why should it take so long or exist as is and how many elections should it take a just economy to be implemented and enlightenment to be realized.
