(31,170 posts)Attacking the very people that fought for the ACA. And it seemed his speech was actually written and not extemporaneous, so he actually put thought into that sentence structure. His wife, a Hillary supporter, vouches for his statement that he didn't mean Hillary, so I can accept that, but his comment comes from someone who sees Dems as the enemy. And I don't.

(86,005 posts)...and, much like DU, the sexist phrase he's used 'for many years' might not seem out of the norm to those in his political circle who obviously never called him on it to the degree that he experienced the backlash from Hillary supporters and others this week.
This is something Sanders' campaign has brought us. I can't count how many times comity and respect has been cast aside to score a political point against Hillary. Because, revolution.

(14,587 posts)But, most politicians ARE 'whores' in the sense that the 'perform' for money from donors. In fact, in our present system virtually ALL of them are. I can only think of a few exceptions off the top of my head.
It WAS, however, a really shitty choice of words. Didn't help my candidate much.

(30,481 posts)Not my favorite person but there is a lot we agree on. What I don't get is I know he is smart enough that he should have known it was a bad move before even doing it. Every duer could have told him that. I'm sure a lot has to do with emotions. Lots of enthusiasm combined with the knowledge that at this point it was more of a protest rally.

The very worst Sanders could have imagined has happened to his campaign. It's devolved into an anti-Hillary effort which is a mockery of the positive, issues-oriented approach Sanders claimed at the beginning was his brand.
It's all good, though, because revolution.
