2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe National Memo: "Is The Race In Ohio Already Over?"
As both presidential campaigns ratchet up their efforts to capture Ohios 18 electoral votes, recent polling suggests the race might already be overfor Mitt Romney.
Certain key data from the latest polls suggest that President Obamas victory in the Buckeye State could be a foregone conclusion because each survey suggests that President Obama holds a double digit lead among those who have already voted.

Another important indicator that bodes well for Obama can be found in the registration numbers. According to a memo released by the Obama campaign, four in five in Ohioans who have registered to vote this cycle are either female, younger than 30, or African-American or Latino, which are all demographics that lean strongly Democratic. Additionally, almost two-thirds of Ohioans who registered to vote live in counties where Obama won in 2008.
Other favorable statistics for Obama can be found in the early voting data. Specifically, 55 percent of the early-vote ballots requested in 2012 come from women, which is 3 percentage points greater than in 2008.

(44,973 posts)Democrats always do well in early voting in OH.
That's why we need to run up huge margins by election day.
wish I knew how to post a picture on here!

(7,968 posts)Don't be totally surprised if we lose Ohio. They are not going to let this go easily. We should be working like crazy to hold Ohio and this is only 1 of many good signs we will need to hold it.
Long and short of it is that I absolutely agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(44,973 posts)Again, democrats do well in early voting in OH. For whatever reason republicans want to wait until election day. So you can't assume that because democrats are now leading, that it will hold.
Using that logic, NC should already be in the bag, and we are debating whether NC is even winnable.

(103 posts)I think you see Romeny's "reject the Democrats" message losing traction all around. If they can't unseat Brown, when he was sitting at a 38% approval rating a few months ago, that's a sad statement about their big picture party strategy.

Looking at what seems to be a deficit in John Boehner's popularity, we're finally coming around to a somewhat sane conclusion that the Repukes are responsible for the most dramatic of the "stalemate years". Not such a bright idea Mitt to base your voter appeal on the fact that "Obama didn't deliver what he promised". Apparently at least some folks were paying attention to the bully tactics of the Republican Congress.
Too bad nobody is apparently running against Boehner.
Roll on BIG-O!

(3,003 posts)Polls showing anything from a tie to lead of less than 5 points is not exactly what can be considered a "done deal." This race is up for grabs, folks. We cannot let up one iota in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada, or Iowa. We must sweep these states if we're to keep President Obama in office and save the country from a dangerously sharp turn to the far right.
We need to work for TWO MORE WEEKS!!!
