Obama: I want future kids "to be astonished" there was a time with no female president http://hill.cm/WBVJGBq

“I want young girls and boys to come here 10, 20, 100 years from now to know that women fought for equality,” he said at the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum in Washington. Obama designated the Capitol Hill site as a national monument to honor the women's rights movement.

“I want them to be astonished there was ever a time when women were vastly outnumbered in the boardroom or in Congress, that there was ever a time when a woman had never sat in the Oval Office.”

Without mentioning the current presidential race, Obama said he does not know how long it will take for a woman to be elected. “But I know we are getting closer to that day because of the work of generations of active, committed citizens.

and I know I deserve that hope and plan for the future, also my daughter and small granddaughter. What a nice message.

And, yes, electing our first woman to the presidency will a tremendous step forward for women's rights in America. We are a full half of all Americans and of nearly every religious, racial, ethnic, and social group in the nation, as well as in a very large majority of its households.

As for Hillary, historians and sociologists will be evaluating that giant elephant in the room that almost everyone is pretending does not exist this election -- how much of the unprecedented hostility toward her is has its origin in her sex. It has to be a lot.

No male politician in this nation has been hated so relentlessly for so long. If those indulging end up wearing all those years of hostility in their wrinkles, they will deserve it. Bigotry toward women, from women or men, should be as unacceptable as toward any other group.

He can endorse her all he wants. Ain't gonna change my mind. He's still got hurdles to jump since he made the mistake of making Hillary SoS. So he's just making talk.

I too want a female President, but as it turns outs, it really matters who you elect.
