Can't be bothered to participate prior to the day of... or even investigate the bare minimum requirements of citizenship.

Decisions are made by those who show up. So show up next time.

Sometimes you have to join the 'club' in order to be able to vote on who runs the 'club'.

register to vote in the party, and then vote. For crying out loud. You can register to vote pretty much anywhere. It is quite literally the very least you can do.

The fact that people have attempted to vote and been turned away is proof that those people have been disenfranchised. Every barrier to voting we remove is an improvement.

Closed primaries are strictly a negative.

"A significant factor in the polarization of American politics is the 'closed primary'...."

Same day registration is a step in the right direction.

Research suggests Same Day Registration would greatly increase voter turnout, which Mr. Ho notes is “crucial for a fair and representative electoral system.”

Automatic registration is a better step.

"....the United States' voting system is rare among world democracies in that it requires voters to register to vote."

The only defense offered up around here for such obstacles is a vague fear of "others" voting. Sounds like someone else we all know.

Personally, I support open primaries, automatic registration for all voters, and on-the-spot re-registration if there's a problem.

The parties have become closed clubs who bully and keep their exclusivity for themselves. Their club is call THE ESTABLISHMENT. Obey the rules ever changing of THE ESTABLISHMENT and you too can have a ballot except please remember that some of us have a thousand ballots to your one. Now you know who's in charge, don't you?
