Clooneys to attend a VIP fundraiser for Clinton – and Sanders fans are outraged

Silicon Valley is an engine for creativity and ‘obviously ridiculous
amounts of wealth’, the host said – the kind of wealth that Sanders
supporters plan to protest

Nellie Bowles in San Francisco
Tuesday 12 April 2016 12.00 BST

The Silicon Valley investor hosting George and Amal Clooney at his home this week for a Hillary Clinton fundraiser said he’s unfazed by a protest planned by as many as 1,500 Bernie Sanders supporters with pots and pans at his gate.

Shervin Pishevar, best known as a major investor in Uber, said he “welcomed” the protest against the VIP fundraiser, which will take place at his hilltop San Francisco home and cost upwards of $30,000 for a seat (and selfie) with the Democratic frontrunner.

The protest was a sign of Democratic freedom in the US, he said, and drew attention to what he described as his own humble upbringing.

“Only in America would an Iranian-born immigrant son of a taxi driver and maid trying to help elect our first woman president be protested at his home,” Pishevar told the Guardian. “But I welcome nonviolent protests as an exercise of our great democracy.”

Frankly, I don't care what you think.

I do not have a problem with folks fundraising for the GE. And I also do not have a problem with folks protesting that particular fundraising event (the one in the OP).

As I said, protests are integral to our nation's history and that is why they are allowed.

for the DNC and downticket Democrats in order to help more Dems get into Congress.

We need more Democrats in Congress so we can pass things like increased minimum wage. In order to be able to run a successful campaign against Republicans, you need money.

Sanders supporters are protesting that.

It's stupid.

to fund her campaign; and that it will cost "donors" $354,000 to sit at the head table.

That is obscene. And wrong.

Her campaign is bankrolled in large part by millionaires, billionaires, Wall Street tycoons and venture capitalist moguls such as the host of this farce, Sherwin Pishevar.

And that's just the Friday installment.

Saturday, she's at the Clooney mansion where people will pay $34,400 per person to attend.

Friday night, Bernie will be in Vatican City, attending a conference and discussing with world leaders and researchers the topics of poverty, income inequality and "Money as Idolatry."

The stark differences between these two candidates could not be more clear, and will be on full display on Friday night.

By the way to the OP, when she came to La Jolla, she was met by protesters. So did Biden incidentally. I know you guys hate this, but so did Cruz yesterday...mostly by Trump fans, but there were a few, one or two HRC and Sanders people too

It is a right, even in fnd Bill of Rights

outrages me is the price of the ticket making it another citizen's united type thing.
i.e. raising multiple candidates money excuses it for being over the maximum allowed to be contributed by an individual to a single candidate and money = access once again.

As I have said several times a lot of the bad ideas in government today is because of the company politicians keep, like it or not, people are influenced by the company they keep and when it is exclusively the rich, well those are the ideas that seep in the mind. It is human nature in how it works.

The maximum she'll get from this event is $2,700 per person. I guess these dopes are going to protest money going to the party and the down ticket candidates.

would anyone DARE to attempt to spin $354,000 a plate as just simply trying to help to get someone elected.

This fundraiser is ghoulish and obscene.
