Team Clinton: Sanders rigging the system with quest for superdelegatesHillary Clintons presidenital campaign on Tuesday accused Bernie Sanders of rigging the system by seeking to pick-off the superdelegates that have already pledged their support to Clinton.
Really, I think when you talk about rigging the system, thats what Sen. Sanders is trying to do now," Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon said on CNNs 'New Day."
"Hillary Clinton has won in the popular vote by a wide margin. Shes got more than 2 million votes over Sen. Sanders in all of the contests when you add them all up.
The Clinton campaign is accusing Sanders of trying to thwart the will of the people.

The problem is with Sanders' followers, who browbeat and harass the superdelegates via social media and other venues. That isn't cool at all.

(1,235 posts)a citizen using the power of their vote is comparable to 'harassment'.
If they can go out and 'ASK' for your vote, then the voter can "TELL" them what it will take for that to happen.

(10,476 posts)Mr. Sanders and his backers are trying to cut into Mrs. Clintons large lead in pledged delegates by prying away some of her superdelegates. Rank-and-file Sanders activists have taken it upon themselves to assist, using social media, emails and phone calls in ways that have created a backlash among the very people Mr. Sanders is hoping to win over.
A California superdelegate backing Mrs. Clinton, Bob Mulholland, wrote a letter to Mr. Sanders this week saying the outreach to superdelegates from Sanders voters has gotten offensive, including calls coming late at night. Other superdelegates said they have gotten unwanted calls at work from Sanders backers, or have seen their Facebook pages flooded with warnings of political repercussions for supporting Mrs. Clinton.

(1,235 posts)That's telling politicians that if they want your vote next time, and don't want them campaigning against you that they better pay attention to what, you the voter, is asking.
That's called democracy.

(24,979 posts)Even if they've stated a commitment, they aren't anyone's until a convention floor vote. They are politicians and elected representatives and public figures involved in a supposedly democratic process, and people have a right to peaceably petition them.
Let the people have their primaries, as flawed as the process is.

(24,411 posts)End of month and end of quarter, is when the campaigns report their campaign contributions. So, the campaigns push for donatinons before these deadlines.
We heard a lot of "Something something Tad Divine" (as you said) as we neared the end of March.
Bernie outraised Hillary in Jan, Feb and March--and he has earned twice as many individual contributions.
So...I guess the scare tactics were pretty much a waste of time.
I'm sure as the end of April approaches, we will hear more "Something something Tad Devine."
Buddyblazon
(3,014 posts)SD's always come out with who they support early. But if that person blows it...their votes don't go on record until the convention. This is the system they put in place. "You can't take my superdelegates.". Fuck they can't. This is the system they put in place. Quit whining and go out and give your superdelegates a reason to cast their ACTUAL vote for you.
This is a fucking dumb one to bitch about. And anybody taking up this weak ass battle cry is just as dumb.

(12,689 posts)At least that is what his campaign manager seems to be implying. There is no reason the super delegates should flip to the candidate that does not have the pledged delegate lead.
Skink
(10,122 posts)KingFlorez
(12,689 posts)That would lower the required delegate threshold and Clinton would actually be closer to getting the required number. The race could very well be done at the end of the month if super delegates were "canceled".
Buddyblazon
(3,014 posts)for the other candidate they sure as hell have a reason. If all their constituents voted for the other candidate...then absolutely they should follow their constituents lead.

(388 posts)for example WA state super delegates should back bernie. The WA superdelegates should not follow the popular vote in mississippi or alabama as an excuse to back hillary.
They should follow the will of the people that voted for them in WA state, cause if they refuse to back bernie in WA, they may find themselves out of office.
