Some attacks on Hillary will go away if she's the nominee

Since the 1990s, Hillary has been subject to relentless attacks, including bizarre ones such as murdering Vince Foster. Until Bernie Sanders ran for President, these attacks came almost exclusively from the right. But, with Bernie in a competitive race, as they say all is fair in love and politics, his supporters are throwing every piece of shit they can find, even accusing Hillary of racism and homophobia despite her strong support from those groups.

Of course, his supporters are desperate, and negative campaigning is effective. Bernie has only had a small taste of it, perhaps because most of that type of stuff appears on the internet, where Bernie's supporters are far more active than Hillary's. Also, Republicans see no need to attack Bernie right now, especially since they don't want show his vulnerabilities and are so hoping that the Democrats have a brokered convention.

However, it's worth pointing out that should Hillary win the nomination, several attacks on her will fade away. Republicans won't attack her vote on Iraq, her ties to Wall Street, or her wealth. They will attack her foreign policy, but unfortunately for them, their many witch hunts have turned up little on Benghazi, and unlike the left they don't want to be seen defending Qadaffi. As far as ISIS goes, they won't attack her too much since ISIS is more the creation of Bush than Obama, and it appears that Obama's strategy to defeat ISIS is working.

They will of course find different ways to attack Hillary, such as the email "scandal," but their arsenal will be significantly reduced.

They've already started on the Clinton Foundation -- recently passed around a letter asking one agency or another (I forget which now) to investigate for pay2play.

And if, dawg forbid, she wins impeachment hearings will begin the instant she's inaugurated.

The best we can hope for if she's nominated is that she partners with a stellar Veep, because odds are good we'll need one to take over.

on her economic policies or foreign policies BECAUSE SHE IS IN AGREEMENT WITH REPUBLICANS.

The OP has just perfectly described the Third Way --Republican economics and foreign policy while throwing an occasional sop to progressive social policies -- and is both totally oblivious and totally fine with it.

Also, I have a hunch that her Goldman-Sachs transcripts will magically appear in October when they can do the most damage to her credibility, further eroding support for her among independents and the Left.

The MSM can't wait for Dems to stop pointing out her hawkish history so the talking heads can reduce the issue to a question of who should get bombed first.

Some Sanders supporters should admit they prefer authoritarianism to democracy.

15. The types and subject of attacks will change sure, but some will go away, but others will come back.

Sure, what the republicans will attack with vs what Sanders followers will use are different. I don't see the volume of attacks changing much. If anything the rhetoric against Hillary will increase.

That said though, I do agree that the Republicans aren't doing much attacking on Bernie right now for the very reasons you specify. Donald Trump even advised his surrogates to not attack Bernie because he feels Bernie will be easier to go after in the GE.

There's already a few examples of the kind of horrendous crap they will throw at Bernie. So far they've remained rather obscure, small publication distribution pieces, but I have no doubt those and much more will be drummed up to attack him, attack his wife, and smear him.

Just this morning there was an article by CNS called "attacking our nation's founders". I won't link that crap here, because (imo) that's what it is.. crap. It was all because Bernie had mentioned in a speech that our nation was founded on racist principles.. which it WAS. However, the narrative that will come out of it is that he insulted the sacredness of our nations founders.. and in the General, I have no doubt that will be brought to light and used to paint him as unpatriotic.. bullshit, but that's how it'll very likely play out.. there's so much history of Repubs doing just that kind of hit on us.

They'll attack Jane. There's already been a couple of small articles about her for loan fraud. Again, bullshit, and nothing that anyone who would call themselves a progressive, Democrat, or liberal would use.. but don't think for a moment the Republican machine doesn't have that ready for mass distribution to smear his wife.

They have plenty of ammo on Hillary. Most if not all of it has already been used. How effective will it be when drummed up again? I don't think it will sway many that haven't already been swayed.

The ammo against Bernie.. that's yet to be displayed. I don't think that should be a good reason to disparage his supporters though. People need to vote for the candidate that they think will be best over all. For me that's Hillary. For many others, especially here, it's Bernie. Just because the Republicans will smear their candidate in the GE isn't a reason I can see anyone changing their vote or support over.
