Again, are we going to pretend that there is not a connection between AA

and ghettos? I mean, thats just blatently ignoring history

Due to segregated conditions and widespread poverty, some black neighborhoods in the United States have been called "the ghetto" or "the projects." The use of this term is controversial and, depending on the context, potentially offensive. Despite mainstream America’s use of the term "ghetto" to signify a poor urban area (predominately African-Americans), those living in the area often used it to signify something positive.

The black ghettos did not always contain dilapidated houses and deteriorating projects, nor were all of its residents poverty-stricken. For many African Americans, the ghetto was "home", a place representing authentic blackness and a feeling, passion, or emotion derived from the rising above the struggle and suffering of being black in America. Langston Hughes relays in the "Negro Ghetto" (1931) and "The Heart of Harlem" (1945): "The buildings in Harlem are brick and stone/And the streets are long and wide,/But Harlem’s much more than these alone,/Harlem is what’s inside." Playwright August Wilson used the term "ghetto" in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (1984) and Fences (1987), both of which draw upon the author’s experience growing up in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, first a neighborhood of early European immigrants, then a black ghetto. Depending on the context and social circles, the term 'ghetto' or 'hood (short for neighborhood) can be a term of endearment for where the individual person has been brought up or lives.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_neighborhood

Or that the same thing doesn't apply to a connection between Jews and ghettos?

In the Jewish diaspora, a Jewish quarter (also known as juiverie, Judengasse, Jewynstreet or proto-ghetto) is the area of a city traditionally inhabited by Jews. Jewish quarters, like the Jewish ghettos in Europe, were often the outgrowths of segregated ghettos instituted by the surrounding Christian authorities. A Yiddish term for a Jewish quarter or neighborhood is "Di yiddishe gas" (Yiddish: די ייִדדישע גאַס ? ), or "The Jewish quarter." While in Ladino, they are known as maalé yahudí, meaning "The Jewish quarter". Many European and Middle Eastern cities once had a historical Jewish quarter and some still have it.

Jewish quarters in Europe existed for a number of reasons. In some cases, Christian authorities wished to segregate Jews from the Christian population so that Christians would not be "contaminated" by them or so as to put psychological pressure on Jews to convert to Christianity. From the Jewish point of view, concentration of Jews within a limited area offered a level of protection from outside influences or mob violence. In many cases, residents had their own justice system. When political authorities designated an area where Jews were required by law to live, such areas were commonly referred to as ghettos, and were usually coupled with many other disabilities and indignities. The areas chosen usually consisted of the most undesirable areas of a city. In the 19th century, Jewish ghettos were progressively abolished, and their walls taken down, though some areas of Jewish concentration continued and continue to exist. In some cities, Jewish quarters refer to areas which historically had concentrations of Jews. For example, many maps of Spanish towns mark a "Jewish Quarter", though Spain hasn't had a significant Jewish population for over 500 years.

Seriously, how can that be considered a racist stereotype?

I googled "What percent of blacks are below the poverty line?" and got the following stats:

Among racial and ethnic groups, African Americans had the highest poverty rate, 27.4 percent, followed by Hispanics at 26.6 percent and whites at 9.9 percent.

45.8 percent of young black children (under age 6) live in poverty, compared to 14.5 percent of white children.

When pretty damn close to half of young black children are below the poverty line, that's a national tragedy.

Pretending it's not happening does nothing to rectify the situation.

Was THAT the real "joke"? That de Blasio -- just like Spike Lee's character -- has a black wife and two bi-racial kids?!

If so, that really boomeranged all over the place. You have Clintonites claiming de Blasio's black wife & kids prove he's not a racist. While everyone else says that does not give him a pass. Then Spike Lee's satirical movie, which they obviously used for this skit, says that such a person feels he "has the right" to be as demeaning as he wants. While whoever wrote the skit seems to think such a person really DOES have that right.

My head is swimming.

De Blasio is married to a black woman. Hillary didn't make the joke.

I've heard the joke from black people. I have a Jewish friend who talks about Jewish Standard Time, pretty much the same idea. And people from the Caribbean make a similar joke about island time.

Some people need to get a life.

including Odom's alleged offense, and Hillary changing it to Cautious Politician Time. This was a comedy skit.

She didn't deliver the allegedly offensive part of the joke.

This is the weakest attack on Hillary from Bernie supporters I've seen in quite awhile. Congratulations.

and this is a campaign ending scandal. You can pretend that's not the case, but you'd be just proving how partisan your outrage is.

many who have no clue about black opinion in this country in the first place. Or, any particular interest in racial matters, except as a leverage for Bernie. Not too long ago Bernie supporters were vilifying BLM ....

This is not a scandal, it is barely an "oops"!

She can do no wrong. Whatever she does is right at the time, and if she later changes her tune, she is right then too.

Coupled with Bill's comments last week about BLM being a group that supports murderers and drug dealers, you'd think they would wise up!!

Nothing she says is racist, according to them.

"If that's the way you feel, I'll just go talk to white people about it."

That's how Hillary dismissed BLM last year.

In a skit called "Shamilton"
.) Anyway, I watched the skit and I thought Clinton's line was uttered to "save" DeBlasio" from making a racist comment.
Really bad joke though.
