Rock and Roll surrogate election 2012

Kid Rock "Born Free" vs. Bruce Springsteen "We take care of our own"

Both songs used by Romney and Obama respectively, both are patriotic anthems, both allude to American myths, both even
use the phrase "shining sea", and imo both legitimately represent conservative vs. liberal values at some level.

And finally, imo "We take care of our own" is undoubtedly much more appropriate for our times. Bring it on!

I'm posting videos and links lyrics. I think both are excellent songs, btw.

Since the days of "Bawitdaba", his recurring theme has been "derivative". He makes a lot of money despite a complete lack of talent or creativity, and seems like he will pander to anyone's tastes who might buy his albums. He also likes to chase cartoonishly altered females who represent the mass media's version of what "hot" is supposed to be. Conformity and banality forever!!!

Bruce, meanwhile, could by all rights have retired years ago, but still does what he does because it comes from the heart. That says something.

i know approximately zero about Kid Rock, I have never before your post ever seen the word "Bawitaba". Of all the value I see in "Born Feee", none of it rises above the level of myhthology;

On the other hand, Springsteen has been around for 40 years and therefore his message carries that much more weight. As far as i know, Springsteen has never written a song extolling the values of the free market.

I'm going to make a confession: I love rock music and I'm currently drunk.
