I'm actually shocked that he would make this statement before the FBI finishes it's investigation. Wow. It's almost like he was trying to send a very public message to the FBI.

I think this, plus the extradition of Guccifer, is a hint that the FBI's going to be finishing up soon, and not in a way that will be positive for Hillary.

If he's seen as quashing an FBI investigation of the Democratic front-runner, he can kiss his legacy goodbye. There's a time to be a team player, and a time to do what's right. I'd have hoped Obama knew the difference, but...

He probably was trying to send a message to the FBI, but:

1). Why did he feel this was necessary?

-and-

2). Will they listen?

OBAMA: "I continue to believe that she has not jeopardized America's national security. Now what I've also said is that -- and she has acknowledged -- that there's a carelessness, in terms of managing e-mails, that she has owned, and she recognizes. But I also think it is important to keep this in perspective. This is somebody who has served her country for four years as secretary of state, and did an outstanding job. And no one has suggested that in some ways, as a consequence of how she's handled e-mails ... that detracted from her excellent ability to carry out her duties." ...

He's wrong. We KNOW her private server was unsecure and there is a chance it was hacked. This isn't debatable.

Maybe he needs to take a course in cyber security. I already know it since I've worked in it for nearly 10 years.

Sad.

from the situation. There's enough wiggle room in there for him to come back and say, "I'm pleased the FBI investigation exonerated Secretary Clinton" or "I'm troubled by the revelations which have come forth during the investigation blah blah blah."

This was a big fat Not Me, and far from being an expression of confidence, it's a hint that Obama thinks there's a decent chance the FBI will recommend charges.
