2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHey Bill - THIS is how you handle a heckler....
And what this man was shouting to Bernie was UGLY. Bernie remained calm and soft spoken as anti-semitic daggers were being thrown at him. Was a bit more intense than a couple of BLM activists with signs and questions.
So proud to be a supporter of this gentle man.

(8,541 posts)He let him speak and answered his questions with out contempt but didn't get run over either.
oh yeah he was wagging his finger at dude so that dispels the sexism charge.

(39,451 posts)Bernie never raised his voice - so what if he raised his finger - at least it wasn't the middle one, which I would have given that heckler

(57,349 posts)The man was repeating anti-Semitic stereotypes and Bernie didn't even blink, he shrugged it off and responded to the Israel/Palestinian accusation.

It was important Bernie said what he did. And the audience definitely appreciated his answer.

(57,349 posts)We've seen them here and elsewhere, it's anti-Semitic to assume all Jews are right wingers who hate Palestinians.
Bernie has been outspoken for his support of both states and he has condemned the actions of both as well.

Not that it matters, but this Apollo Town Hall was the best thing I've ever watched.
jillan
(39,451 posts)Agree- it was amazing. I am going to watch it again.

What a loving and kind person.

Bernie just deals with shit. That's why he's qualified.

(39,451 posts)entire audience was amazing, they all rallied around Bernie.
I'm actually glad this happened. There are a lot of these feelings out there, heck we see them right here on DU.
It needed to happen, and I am glad Bernie - and yes! Symone - handled it the way they did.

(3,089 posts)Bill Clinton did just fine in my book. He allowed the protestor to speak, while listened. Then he responded with truthful, factual, enlightening information...as much as some people didn't want to hear it.

No screaming, no talking down, just grace.
That's why he's qualified to be president!
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)It isn't about "me, me, me." It isn't about, "Now you listen to M E."
It's "Let's talk. You talk, and then I'll talk." And when it is Bernie's turn, he says, "Here's what I think is fair." And what Bernie thinks is fair usually is.
We are so lucky that Bernie is running for president. He will make a great president, a president of peace.

(5,240 posts)Because anger and physical displays are what people without answers do and it is what people who want to show strength and dominance when they feel cornered or put out do.
Bernie kept calm and didn't bother shouting over or belittling the clearly racist tin foil hat protester.
He just talked about Talking and listening and mediating.
I want this in a leader!
He is even better at this part of campaigning than Obama was IMHO.
I want the person who breaks up the fight NOT the person who fights just because they know that they are tougher.
