2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Fix: "Bernie Sanders had the Worst Week in Washington"
From Wash Post..
That win should have been a springboard for Sanders heading into the New York primary on April 19. It wasn't.
Here's why.
First, Sanders did an interview with the editorial board of the New York Daily News. In the discussion, a transcript of which was posted on Monday, Sanders came across as the proverbial dog who caught the car. He struggled to explain (or to seemingly understand) the consequences of many of his policies and looked for all the world like someone who, in the words of Clinton, had not done his homework.
Then came Sanders's inexplicable decision to engage with Clinton on the question of who was (and was not) "qualified" to be president. Of course, Sanders was, by his recounting, simply responding to Clinton's previous questioning of his readiness for office -- which she did even if she came up short of saying the exact words.
But then, suddenly on Friday morning, Sanders totally reversed course -- acknowledging that "of course" Clinton was qualified to be president.

The gaffes and mistakes keep on coming. Bernie is clearly not ready for prime time.

(2,353 posts)I think any average person will see that as well...
I've converted my Republican Dad to Bernie and he even preemptively texts me about things that MSM don't cover well, such as Bernie being Nostradamus about the Panama papers and pretty much everything (his words)... People are waking up to the bullshit the MSM peddles.

(646 posts)He and his campaign are claiming he was invited by the Pope to speak at the Vatican and, as far as I can tell from the invitation THAT HIS OWN CAMPAIGN posted, is that he has been invited to "attend" a conference by a group that has no official connection to the Pope or the Vatican.

(32 posts)Hillary and her media pals are laying landmine after landmine waiting for one misstep to characterize as the "gaffe" or "microagression" to ruin them all. They want their "Dean Scream" moments and are doing their hardest to gaslight the way there. Unfortunately, they forgot that the internet lets us see through this charade. Screaming/fingerpointing at climate activists, Bill whitesplaining black protestors, the prolonged morning news subway stunt, disgusting Sandy Hook comments, her own implications of Sanders being "unqualified". A noise machine to block sound recording won't hide that the emperor has no clothes, something the public becomes more aware of by the week.

(38,546 posts)And he did it all from New York, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. Next week he'll do it from the Vatican. WaPo has turned over its credibility for the obduration.

(11,993 posts)The article actually lists that as a negative.
but you have to put that in perspective to where he was just a few weeks earlier. And that earlier poll was also Emerson, so it's apples-to-apples.

Bernie is capping off a rise in numerous polls with a trip to the Vatican to meet and speak with like minded people who care about their fellow man .
I would call that a great week.
