Bernie Sanders is refusing to back down from his claim that Hillary Clinton is not "qualified" to be president, though he told CBS host Charlie Rose on Thursday that he only attacked her because she attacked him first.
Do you believe Secretary Clinton is unqualified to be president? Rose asked the Vermont senator on CBS Evening News on Thursday.
Well, does Secretary Clinton believe that I am unqualified to be president? Sanders shot back.
Rose pressed further, asking why Sanders would level such a charge against someone with "a first-class resume" and "one of the most qualified people to run."
She has years of experience. She is extremely intelligent, Sanders allowed.
So why can't you say? an exasperated Rose asked again.
Because she is, you know, I have some experience, too, Sanders said, launching into a recitation of his own years of public service.

This finger pointing is becoming childish. Van Jones called it "stupid" tonight on CNN.

(30,253 posts)It's like something a child would do. But MOMMMM, Hillary started it!!! Anyone here raised kids? The only difference is that these kids are in their 60s and 70s.

(8,377 posts)The whole purpose for the present process is to determine which candidate is more qualified. Since when is "unqualified" a word we're not allowed to use. I guess it is so taboo that we will have to refer to it as the U-word.
If I didn't know better, I might think the Clinton people are trying to change the subject.

(2,145 posts)I wish we could talk issues. A lot of people might be thinking differently if issues had been the deciding factors in 2015. Too bad. All the smoke and mirrors to make chosen candidates into idols gets old.

(68,868 posts)He can't say "we're both qualified?"
And, no, Clinton isn't being grilled to say he's qualified but she never went on the record saying he wasn't.

(47,803 posts)Rose asked good questions..They were politie and even seemed to like each other.
Generally Rose let Bernie speak despite Rose's tendency to interrupt people, he backed off when Bernie pushed to finish his points.
Sanders explained himself well. He was calm.
What's to complain about?

Odds are still in Hillary's favor, but Bernie supporters are doubling down. That scares the shit out of them them.
I couldn't be more gleeful about it.
