Related: About this forumClinton Ignorance: "I値l tell you another story about a place where Black Lives Matter: Africa"
There was so much wrong with Bill Clinton's pushback on BLM, but this takes the cake. This is offensive beyond words.
Little history for Bill Clinton. African Americans (descendants of slaves) have the deepest ties to America out of the all the major ethnic groups in America (Native Indians being the first). They were here before the Irish, Italians, Scots, etc. America's foundations were built on their blood and tears. If anyone can claim to be Americans it is them.
His statement instantiated that Black people are really from Africa, and somehow BLM (by extension black people) should be concerned Africa because they are Africans. AA are first and most importantly Americans. Of all the ethnic groups, they have the least ties to the old world. You only hear this type of talk from White Supremacist who feel AA are Africans and should be send back to Africa.

(11,417 posts)That's the O'Keefe school of journalism. Attacking a successful Democratic President to support Bernie or some other agent sucks
And don't tell me what he meant and don't try to school a person who is most likely far ahead of you in education

(751 posts)Why should BLM be concerned with people in Africa? Is he telling AIPAC why they aren't concerned with black people in Africa?

(10,345 posts)Because I think the statement is irrelevant to what BLM was talking about. Why mention Africa, at all?

(17,651 posts)Because I have no fucking idea what point he was trying to make.
Was it what OP said or is he commenting on the plight of native POC living in an African country?
was your point Mr. Clinton because I'd honestly like to know.

(316 posts)That stood out to me too as the strangest part of the rant. He's asking for credit from African-Americans (who have grievances with a mass incarceration regime he helped create) for post-presidency charity work in Africa. Bizarre.
