Obama 2008 Campaign Ad: "She’ll say anything, and change nothing."

"The Washington Post says Clinton isn’t telling the truth. [...]

"But it was Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Tom Brokaw, who quote 'paid tribute' to Ronald Reagan’s economic and foreign policy. She championed NAFTA –- even though it has cost South Carolina thousands of jobs. And worst of all, it was Hillary Clinton who voted for George Bush’s war in Iraq.

"Hillary Clinton. She’ll say anything, and change nothing. It’s time to turn the page. Paid for by Obama for America."

Sure, it would be great if candidates could simply state their views and then have the people vote. But the human condition is such that a large segment of the population, for whatever reason, are either not sure of their political beliefs or able to be swayed by advertisements or direct attacks of the opposition.

In an ideal world, the voters would be educated enough to know what policies are in their best interest, be able to research claims made by the candidates, and simply align with the one who most closely supports and has plans to deliver them.

Therefore, the most outlandish things are said during a campaign. Most thinking people would not use these statements as the definitive biography of a candidate. Just as I would never use the recent missteps of Bernie to define him after the election, and negate all his many years of service to this country as a senator.
