2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe NY Daily News interview with Bernie was excellent
In fact, Sanders repeatedly noted throughout the interview how good the question were.
I think any reasonable person who read the transcript would conclude that Bernie did a great job. He expounded on his views and was given an opportunity to speak at length about a variety of topics, including the ones that he is most passionate about.
In my opinion, this kind of sit down long-form discussion is exactly what the American people ought to be focusing on instead of sound bytes and silliness from debates about wagging fingers and what clothing people are wearing.
Forget about the spin from all corners and just sit down and read the transcript and you will find a thoughtful discussion of some critical issues with a level of detail rarely found.
In a cycle dominated by the likes of Chris Matthews talking over people (or simply talking to hear himself talk) and Wolf Blitzer asking vacuous questions, it is nice to read an exchange where the candidate is able to speak at length, respond when challenged, clarify when asked to do so, and can answer "I don't know" rather than BS-ing.
Bernie gave forthright answers to intelligent questions. The interview was neither fawning nor combative. It was just the sort of thing we ought to be encouraging.

(58,724 posts)It was not a "hit piece" - it was a great exchange and both Bernie and the NY Daily News conducted themselves admirably.

(46,416 posts)The excerpts I read seemed fine. Obviously some people had an agenda to manufacture a fail where there was none.
