2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs Bernie Sanders your stoner college roommate?
New York Daily News:Throughout this presidential campaign, a fulsome narrative has sprouted up around the Vermont socialist: That whatever one thinks of his far-left political views, Sanders is undoubtedly bookish, erudite and extremely knowledgeable about the issues.
A highly revealing interview with the Daily News Editorial Board last week, however, shows that claim to be utter rubbish. Sanders is less Eugene Debs, the Socialist Party presidential candidate about whom he made a laudatory documentary, than Gene the Undergraduate Stoner, who, whenever interrupted amidst one of his interminable diatribes about the glories of socialist economics, complains about you harshing his buzz.
Take Sanders signature issue: wealth inequality. Despite railing endlessly on the stump about how American corporations are destroying the national fabric, Sanders was unable to name even three American businesses guilty of that grave charge. Similarly, while bemoaning how no Wall Street executive has been prosecuted for supposed crimes that sparked the financial crisis of 2008, he could not name any legal statute that they violated.

Are you that out of touch?
Do you remember how Kerry was swiftboated? It was by this kind of shit. The besmirching of his medals, first. Then the besmirching of his youthful ideals. It was a bad scene made even more awful because it worked. The population was that malleable, that out of touch.
AWOL Bush, not the only GOP campaign to project on the Dem, got women mainly to call Kerry a coward. Goldwater girl Hillary, with a somewhat questionable foray later into civil rights, ridicules Sanders activism, especially toward the base she delivers little to.
Projection, right out of the Devil's own handbook.

SNL should do a skit where she morphs not into Bernie, but into Dana Carveyms GHWB character.

Take the Iraq war. .
Casualties from the Iraq war are estimated to be about 500,000 civilians, some estimates are as high as 1 million. We lost about 5000 soldiers and had over 32,000 seriousely wounded due those who voted for the Iraq war. The war alson spawned. ISIS.

(12,228 posts)Seems more like Debbs after the dismissive rant. Debbs had a hand in building the progressive electorate that lead us to FDR rather than a dictator/fascist. So did the Bull Moose party. This is why some are saying the future holds and FDR revolution at least in the cards.
The last person I listened to who insisted no one had broken any finance laws was the slick spokesman for the British finance services hosting the "Panama" money fest with typical PR and lots of jovial plausible deniability. Other than Obama and Clinton I don't know the full list of druggies from the hipster past who should not be believed.

My room mate and I got our books mixed up one morning and I ended up with some history book, and she ended up with organic chemistry. Not fun at 7:30 in the morning.
Well, that and the fact that I also ended up in her underwear that day, but hey.
