Here's Thom Hartmann's view of the NY Daily News interview, supposedly a "disaster"
I read a post at the HRC site that baldly stated that the interview was a "disaster."
But when I read the transcript of the interview, it seemed to me that Bernie acquitted himself extremely well in the face of obviously a firing squad set up by the guys in the Daily News, not one of the most honest or prestigious news outlets in the city. I was glad to find out that others agreed with my assessment. I posted at the site questioning the use of the word "disaster." To my mind, reading the transcripts, Bernie did an admirable job. I suggested that if there was a video of the interview, Bernie could use it as a part of his own campaign advertising. Anyway, I also heard Thom Hartmann's take on the interview this morning (Wednesday), focusing on two issues: Bernie's policy statements on "gun control," which HRC is heaving some heavy-duty half-truths his way, and his "alleged" inability to give the specifics of how he would "break up the big banks."
Thom deals with these two issues at the very beginning of his program right up to the first break. It's very illuminating in giving an idea of how Hillary is trying to pillory Bernie by pretty much lying about his position and how the Daily News interviewers were not accurate in some of their facts as well. BTW, Juan Gonzales on Democracy Now also commented on the interview, since HE WAS THERE. And Gonzales thought Bernie acquitted himself admirably as well. Here's the Hartmann show.
