Clinton delegates feel the Bern — hey, 'b---h,' switch your vote

By ARIEL COHEN (@ARIELCOHEN37) • 4/3/16 12:01 AM

Superdelegates supporting Hilary Clinton are getting angry, abusive phone calls and emails from Bernie Sanders' backers demanding they switch sides.

The pressure is intense, say Clinton superdelgates from states won by Sanders. Superdelegates are not "pledged" to the state victor and can vote whichever way they want.

That's leading to a torrent of unpleasantness.

Maine Democratic National Committee member Maggie Allen began screening her calls after the state's March 5 caucuses.

"It got really bad," Allen, a Clinton supporter, told the Washington Examiner. "I got drunken calls saying I was a bitch. I was basically being called an elitist, unfair, an undemocratic person."

She receives 25 calls or more emails or voice messages like this a day.

As an unpledged delegate, Allen is one of the hundreds of wildcard votes that could decide who gets the Democratic nomination. She supports Clinton, but her state went for Sanders by nearly 30 points. And the Vermont socialist senator's backers are unhappy with Allen's choice of Clinton.

Having fallen far behind Clinton in the delegate count, the Sanders campaign is trying to sway superdelegates to switch. But they're going way too far, Clinton superdelegates claim.

Idaho superdelegate Carolyn Boyce has been involved in the state's politics since the 1980s, and is the only one of Idaho's four superdelegates to back Clinton. Sanders won the Idaho caucus with 78 percent of the vote to Clinton's 22 percent. After the caucus, one Sanders supporter started a petition online demanding Boyce switch her convention vote from Clinton to Sanders.

Looks like Clinton supporters on DU aren't the only ones feeling the wrath.

Saying " the Sanders campaign is trying to sway superdelegates to switch. But they're going way too far, Clinton superdelegates claim. " when it's not the campaign that was complained about earlier in the article.

Sheesh.

A random person on Reddit created a spreadsheet with public domain information on SuperDelegates for states Sanders won.
So?

While I agree that people should not be abusive, there is zero evidence to support they have been abusive.
Yes, it is possible but there is zero proof that actual supporters of Sanders did these things. Could they have? Sure, out of millions of people, some bad eggs are possible. You would think that the campaign that sent out images of PBO in traditional Solmali grab in a "not like us" meme or their leading campaign surrogate calling him a "drug dealer" would not have such weak stomachs. I think they protest to much. Little late to play the "sweet and innocent " card, we know what they did in 2008.
Despite no actual proof of any wrongdoing, the Sanders campaign has been the bigger person and has stated, on a couple of occasions now, asking people to keep it polite and civil.

it is to be expected that they will get lobbied by individuals.

My suggestion is to do away with super delegates and their undemocratic voting power. No one would bother them anymore.

Bernie is drunk-dialling super delegates?

Possibly some Bernie supporters are acting like children, meanwhile Clinton Super delegates are acting like elitist anti-democratic asses.

When has Bernie ever discouraged such behavior?

An ethical leader would have told his supporters to stuff it -- but no. Bernie was enjoying all the disruptive anarchy he caused and which directly translated into riling people up to vote for him.

They will change no superdelegates' votes. Instead, they will help to harden their decisions. Stupid move.

Note: I've been following comments to my own House representive on Facebook. There's some ugly crap being posted there. It's a damned shame, and I've communicated with her privately to tell her that I support her making her own decision, without bowing to such pressure and nasty statements, which have included accusations of "Treason" and vile name-calling. In several cases, I've clicked on the detractors' own Facebook pages and have seen additional ugliness.
