I think I'm SLOWLY bringing my "undecided" mother over to President Obama

She has voted Republican for as long as I can remember but she has been souring on them for awhile now. I think that she just barely voted for McCain/Palin in 2008 but she really doesn't like Romney and doesn't think that he is as "in touch" with most people nor as "compassionate" as President Obama.

She also admitted that she doesn't know where Romney stands on most issues and doesn't like his saber rattling and talks about invading/attacking other countries either. She also agreed with me that we need to invest more in our country and work on rebuilding it instead of picking more fights with other countries, particularly in the ME. I was even more excited to find out that she also doesn't like Mike Pence ("Is he one of those tea party people?&quot who is running for Governor here in Indiana, particularly when I told her that he tried to cut federal funding Planned Parenthood last year in Congress- and this coming from a strongly religious anti-choice sort of person. I was, to put it mildly, stunned this evening while we were talking on the phone. It makes me wonder how many more Republican voters like her are out there whom President Obama could potentially win over (or maybe even already won over)?

It's hearing things like this that make me really wonder even more about all of these polls showing this mysterious "surge" for Romney/Ryan.

people just like your Mom. I bet a lot of them are telling friends & family that they will vote for Mitt, but when they get in that booth I'm hoping they vote for Mr. Obama. Keep at her in a gentle way.

I'm going to have to mention the 47% tape next time I talk politics with her- though it sounds like she pretty much already understands that he's not "in touch" with most of us. I mentioned the "binders full of women" to her and his confused stance on equal pay for women but she kind of shrugged that off because she's not one of them "women libbers". Oh well. Baby steps.....................

for equal work". I would really like to know the thinking behind that. The only possible answer is men think women are below them but I want someone to just say it. The explosion would be heard round the world.

Romney never had a shot of winning this election & tonight's debate only underlines that further.

ELECTION SPOILER: Obama wins in a LANDSLIDE

It's all right there.
And if you need more convincing read this.

7-eleven has Obama as a clear winner of the elections

As of Monday, October 22, 2012, Obama has 59% & Romney has 41%.
And according to lunamagica, the starter of that thread, 7-Eleven's 7-Election poll has been eerily accurate the past 2 elections.
This will make number 3.
