5. Kerrey was a very staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton in 2008.

Kerrey was a huge Hillary Clinton supporter in 2008.

He endorsed her in the primary.

Kerrey announced his endorsement of Hillary in Iowa, during a very critical time for her in the primary process. He campaigned for her as well. He said some controversial, not-so-flattering things about Obama. He seemed to be very willing to engage in some dirty campaigning for Hillary. His remarks were a bit off color and he ended up apologizing for them. I assumed he was deep in the tank for Hillary.

What he is saying is absolutely fact. Her private server allowed her to avoid FOIA requests. She never used a .gov email address. Because her email server was private, she was able to circumvent turning over her emails. That in not in dispute.

Still, Kerrey backs her campaign and is a member of her Nebraska Leadership Council.
“I support her as a consequence of her positions on the issues. I support her as a consequence of her competency,” Kerrey said. “She made a mistake here. I’ve made plenty myself.”
And he predicted that she will win the nomination and the presidency.
“You can’t question her competency,” Kerrey said. “You can’t question her capacity to do the work.”
