2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLet's be VERY CLEAR: David Brock is the older version of James O'Keefe
It is just that simple. He should have no place in our politics. Brock is a severe propagandist who has done immeasurable damage to liberal causes. As much as, if not more than, O'Keefe. For Hillary to use him and her fans to use his propaganda site here as a "news" reference is repulsive and reprehensible. Brock has no redemption. Hillary should be ashamed of using him. And all the negative stuff you see today against Sander's is about as truthful as O'Keefe's bullshit on ACORN. That is a fact.

I get that you don't like progressive media, but that doesn't make it "RW propaganda."

(12,041 posts)The link below goes to an OP which you recommended that is based on an article from the CATO Institute, a Koch Brothers funded right-wing think tank.
I don't think you will find many Bernie supporters recommending the Cato Institute, but you did.

(20,709 posts)Not like she's a household name. You think this OP and the people defending it have never heard of the Daily Mail?
Bjorn Against
(12,041 posts)It does not take a rocket scientist to look at the thread you recommended and see it is right wing crap. It said right at the top of the article that the author was with the Cato Institute and the entire article had an obvious right-wing slant.
You made a post accusing Bernie supporters of posting right-wing links, if you don't want your hypocrisy pointed out don't be a hypocrite.
On edit: I do not see any reference to the Daily Mail in the OP.
DanTex
(20,709 posts)Like I said, I didn't know who the author was, must have missed the Cato thing.
Bjorn Against
(12,041 posts)It took me a single click to see who reccomended that right-wing Koch funded article and your name was there. Even if you missed the Cato attribution it did not take much reading to figure out that was a very right-wing article you recommended.

(12,041 posts)If you are going to accuse Bernie supporters of using right-wing links while you reccomended an obvious right-wing link just last night then you should be prepared to be called on your hypocrisy.
You seem to think you can make all the accusations you want but then get upset when someone responds to your accusations by pointing out your own behavior.

(45,319 posts)Here's his response to Hillary having called Obama 'an elite':
DanTex Tue May-06-08 11:42 AM:
"It's a political attack by Hillary. It's a word used to stir resentment and pander for votes. There could be a serious discussion of what an elite is and what elitism means, but that's not what's being discussed on the campaign. What she's talking about is the perception that Obama thinks he's better than working class people and looks down on them.
For any serious discussion of what an elite is we might start with:
-US Senator from New York
-Former first lady
-Net worth over 100 million
-Wellesley, Yale Law
-Attends World Economic Forum in Davos, Council on Foreign Relations, etc.
-Flies around on private jets
-Gets chauffered so much she doesn't know how to pump gas
But I don't hold that against her. I don't care. Obama's probably an elite as well, though not quite as extreme as the Clintons. It's just the dumb political pandering that bothers me."

(3,660 posts)before supposedly reforming, (in other words, getting paid more) it's easy to justify this comparison.
His heyday was just before the Internet had grown as far, and so his tactics then were a little more old-school.
Similar conversations about him and his toady Peter Daou at the Blue Nation Review propagand outlet, owned by Correct the Record (Hillary's super-PAC and hit squad):
Blue Nation Review is a propaganda site: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511566935
Illegitimate news sources used for supporting Hillary's campaign: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511566884
The responses in those threads defending David Brock, Peter Daou and the like are pretty comical.

I really don't have an opinion on the man beyond the obvious. He's an operative. Often operatives are quite sleazy. The end.
