Illinois college students threatened with arrest at polls

Illinois College Students Say They Were Threatened With Arrest And Turned Away From The Polls

One polling location near the college campus did not allow hundreds of students to register to vote on Tuesday, despite the state’s new same-day registration law, because one election judge claimed it would take too much time to register all of them. Others were turned away because they did not have Illinois identification, or because of confusion about polling locations. One poll worker threatened to arrest students who were waiting in a long line to be registered toward the end of the day.

I have a feeling that we will be shocked at the level of voter suppression once it's all said and done.

Which explains how we can't seem to get out of this mess, no matter how many people vote. We vote D and the machine keeps kicking out repukes.

it appears to be so easy too

bernie lost illinois by about 30,000 votes

we have about 10,000 precincts...so only 3 votes per precinct to flip outcome (at least from the reported "output&quot

when they actually resort to out and out suppression ( like bill did in mass or in this article) it actually gives me hope they can only rig it electronically so far without peops seeing it

we the people are not allowed to oversee our own elections...this should be everyones first clue they are not run on the up and up

It's even more amazing that it's a week out since our primary and we're just getting news of this now and only on ThinkProgress. There hasn't been a peep of this on the local news.

I wish every person entering the polls were handed a sheet with voters rights on it.

Madigan's wife is also a delegate for HC. Madigan himself is a super delegate but won't commit right now. Yeah right. I think we all know which way that's going to go.

The disenfranchisement by a 1000 discrepancies, and lies, and slights of hand, and bullshit and illegal activities overlooked.

This is one of the BIG reasons why turnout is eroding more and more.

We need standardized election procedures throughout the whole US.

And with standardization comes an easier understanding of the laws, an easier process to educate everyone on what the procedures.

It will be harder to mislead, and disenfranchise if everyone knows the scoop and is prepared when they go to the polls.

Seriously sad to read this. And add that to the BS in MA with Billy Boy.
And I just love that in NY STate we have a 7 MONTH lag between change of party affiliation and actually voting on primary day. Get rid of closed primaries.
