2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThey want Bernie to get out because he makes them all look bad
There isn't another Democrat that is funded by the people, everyone else in the Senate is funded by corporations.
42% of the democratic electorate has rebelled from the base, they are disgusted at the establishment, money in politics is a Scourge against democracy.
The billionaire class has doubled their net worth over the last few years. the middle class has shrunk. Workers are poorer than they used to be. they need to get Bernie out and his message as quickly as possible.

(4,387 posts)...and the picture isn't pretty. It's part of the reason so many Sanders supporters have real trouble turning to vote for Hillary. Her campaign is almost 100% opposite of his in terms of how it's being run and funded.

(4,387 posts)...and there has been much made about "electability", "no true Democrat", "rainbows and unicorns", "ponies", the list goes on. You don't have to be dumb to be wrong.

(42,726 posts)...I just made a different choice this season. Intelligence actually has very little to do with it. This whole idea that questioning someone's choice questions their intelligence is really bad. No one is infallible. Myself included. I just don't understand how anyone can look at the policies of both candidates and decide she's the better choice.
onenote
(42,726 posts)from being "fooled" into supporting Clinton while others were led like sheep by the propagandists rather than making their own minds up.
At least that's what it sounded like.
...however, in my opinion, anyone who votes based on the narratives of "he's not electable", "he's just promising free stuff", or any of the other non-issue based arguments has fallen victim to propaganda.
hack89
(39,171 posts)being duped is the only possible way a Hillary supporter could vote for her.

(4,387 posts)...some people will be. Some people will fall for the non-issue based arguments surrounding electability.

Except maybe himself.
Oh, and your "42% of the democratic electorate" is nonsense.

39% of financial industry insiders surveyed "reported that their competitors are likely to have engaged in illegal or unethical activity in order to be successful."
And this was more than just suspicion. "26% of respondents indicated that they had observed or had firsthand knowledge of wrongdoing in the workplace."

Yet out of the ranks of these supposed paragons of virtue -- bankers, fund managers, asset managers, and analysts -- one in six lacks sufficient moral backbone to resist the temptation to break the law unless someone's constantly looking over their shoulders, making sure they play by the rules. (And that's the best-case scenario. Theoretically, as many as half of our financial "professionals" are potentially corruptible.)
Now add to this fact the apparently widespread conviction that "everybody else is doing it" -- and getting away with it -- and the further belief that breaking the law is almost a job requirement.
All of a sudden, the epidemic of mortgage fraud, the Bank of America (BAC)-Merrill Lynch bonus debacle, the Madoff scandal -- all of it starts to make sense. Suddenly, you start to understand why Goldman Sachs (GS) CFO David Viniar, when asked earlier this week whether decreased profitability at his firm was a cue to cut costs after he had just noted that Goldman was paying out 44% of all corporate revenue as compensation for his employees, responded simply that "we aren't going to cut our way to prosperity."
As I heard it, he might as well have responded: "Hey, I've got mine, Jack." Because on Wall Street today, that's apparently all that matters.

To keep supporting Hillary they need to believe all her donors on wall street just want higher taxes and regulations. I mean pay to play politics that only effects people with an R by their name.

(5,792 posts)Constantly trying to make Bernie look bad. He has done nothing in comparison to Hillary Clinton. And you KittyWampus are more than nonsense.....you are pathetic in your assumptions.

(11,936 posts)He didn't storm out of an interview.
And you want to talk about "wagging fingers"? Have you ever actually watched Hillary Clinton do ANYTHING? She constantly wags her finger. She was practically sticking her finger in Bernie's face during debates and she did the same to Obama. And I'm actually ok with Hillary, but don't fucking talk about someone wagging their finger when you support the Queen of Finger Wagging. It makes you look stupid.
"Demonizing Wall Street". You say that as if Wall Street hasn't done anything to deserve demonization. If you believe that, you are in the wrong party.

(50,299 posts)Now the focus on Hillary is diluted because she's not the official nominee. As soon as she is the GOP is going to turn her into the worst criminal since Charlie Manson. The longer she can delay that the better.

Fuck no, would be my answer.

(15,647 posts)The fact that they don't care about my vote says a lot about the real value they place on democratic principles.
These times are very much like the 60s. A significant percent of the people are, as you said, disgusted with the establishment. The establishment is worried -- as they should be.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)He can stay in as long as he pleases, the hill incline is getting higher and higher, his agenda is not acceptable to the majority, ergo the votes are going to Hillary. You can say Wall Street over and over, does not change the fact Sanders has been fund raising with Wall Street firms, I am just surprised he is not saying he has been the beneficiary of funding from Wall Street. He is in with corporations and continues to vote funds to Lockheed Martin for a cost overrun F-35 program, he said something one time about defense budget, he keep voting for corporate welfare to Lockheed Martin.
Hillary represented NY, Wall Street is a part of NY just as Lockheed Martin is a part of Vermont, why does he chastise Hillary for representing Wall Street and he does not chastise himself?

(5,792 posts)She is in bed with Wall Street. If she wasn't she would release those transcripts. They are damaging that is why she doesn't release them. Not acceptable to the majority of who of what.......Hillary voters, the elite, the bribed legislators...who is the majority...it's not over 1/2 is still to come.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)way by releasing his conversations? Why has he attended fund raisers with Wall Street firms? You can say over and over about Hillary being in bed with Wall Street, she represented Wall Street as Senator. Also, saying she is in bed with Wall Street does not change her qualifications, she is still the most qualified.
I would still like to know who "they" may be.

(5,178 posts)It drives them crazy to have to honestly survey what they have accomplished with the one life they are given.
One in subservience and aid to the most criminal and anti-democratic forces the world has ever known. All for money.
They have destroyed our infrastructure, our industry, our air, our water and our forests. All for more for themselves and less for everyone else today and most certainly tomorrow.
The more they are forced to self-examine their own lives. The more they need to self-medicate with a strong dose of habit shopping, alcohol and the bubble of entitled ignorance the corporate media grants them.
