Here's Why Santorum Needs to be Silenced ASAP

Last edited Wed Feb 22, 2012, 02:15 PM - Edit history (1)

I'm sorry to disagree. But we've sat back as Progressives and Democrats far too long when bullshit like this starts. This is not a game. Teenagers are out there confused and frightened. Some will attempt, and some will succeed, at suicide. Because this man and those who cheer for him are telling them they are diseased and a disgrace, an abomination. The more he talks, the more dangerous and energized his base gets. He doesn't deserve a platform. He deserves a front row seat in Hell, and nothing more. He lies and tells people we are culling the disabled. He lies and tells people they euthanize people against their will in the Netherlands and the audience gasps and weeps. He compares Obama to Hitler, and Franklin Graham says he's a Christian - that he represents Christian values - and that Obama is a Son of Islam.

No. This is not politics. There is nothing to play with here. This is dangerous extremism. This is the newfound leader of the Christian Taliban and we need to make sure his microphone is turned off, completely and immediately.

And if you haven't read this diary over at Kos, written by a woman who was moved to write about her disabled son by the horrible, "soul-raping" words of Rick Santorum, then read 'Suffer Joshua Suffer, Die Joshua Die'. Then tell me if we need to give Santorum more air time.

"I never thought it was possible that Rick Santorum could say anything that I would write a diary about. I just don't care what he has to say at this point in the game. I monitor it. I observe it. I form a few opinions on my observations. But to take the time to write a diary about something he has said lately? How would I ever care enough to do that? Yet here I am, and now I will. Because he was part of a gang raping of the soul that I experienced. He was a member of the whole party that did it to me. And he mocks me now while also hiding what he did, and if those he did it to don't tell who will ever know? It was ugly. It was only done to the most downtrodden, the most voiceless, the bone weary and pleading."

not a word ! Even if its another country, good grief ! I've known about The Family for awhile, even did a big research piece on them during the Dem 2008 Primaries when people were trying to connect them to Hillary Clinton. Lots of eye-opening stuff out there about Doug Coe; and again, this all ties in to the dangerous nature of the Rick Santorums of this world.

When you look at all the legislation being put forward on a state level, even in my backward state there is a "Don't Say Gay" bill right now up for vote, it becomes even more insidious. Wow.

I also support the first amendment. Where I live we have tossed this stuff around for years because Fred Phelps is here. I don't know what the answer is but there has to be a line drawn. This is very dangerous.

Have to drag the Republican id out into the light so that it can be burned out of politics. Otherwise it remains underground and continues to spread.

For example, a lot of folks are surprised that anti-abortion groups are also anti-contraception. They shouldn't be. The same groups have been talking about the evils of Griswald right along with the evils of Roe in their literature. But it's only recently that public exposure resulted in them going public with anti-contraception.

where "the more he speaks the worse it is for them" has a certain logic.

But the damage he is doing in the meantime, in some way, I'm not sure can be undone unless there is a HUGE outcry from those he is disparaging each and every day. Unless he is taken to task each and every day by the national media for irresponsible and dangerous statements.

But they get more viewers if they keep the Crazy Discourse Going.

If I weren't so angry at this, so absolutely overcome by disgust.. I'd disengage from it all and try to save my blood pressure

I pervisously was hoping for a Santorum nomination because I thought it (and still think) it would result in an Obama landslide. But, I am increasingly distrubed by him and that anyone takes him seriously. Day after day of hearing his disgusting bigotry and hate is too much. It moves the conversation and debate far to the right.

Gays, women and liberals should not be subjected to such hate on the airwaves from a presidential candidate.

I would rather have a closer race with the Romney, which I still think Obama would win handily, and let Santorum be released to the sewers where he belongs. His show has gone on too long. He should no longer enjoy this platform and attention.

He was an idiot laff-riot. But his insane ideas are getting too much traction. The democratic party is "about" homosexuality? No such thing as liberal Christianity?!? Does he even know what the Bible is? And people listen to him. People like this are driving my mother out of the church, and she's an ordained pastor.

Remember a few years ago when Rush Limbaugh told his followers to mess with the Democrat's primary by having Republicans vote as Democrats? Lets do the same thing. Get rid of Santorum by voting in Ron Paul. When November rolls around it will be an easy victory for Obama as Paul hasn't won a single state yet an is considered an outsider among the Republicans. If we work together we can get this done people. Check your state's primary date here http://www.2012presidentialelectionnews.com/2012-republican-primary-schedule/

It sounds like censorship or worse to me. I've found that most people, no matter which side of the political spectrum they are on, are only for free speech if they agree with the speech.
